Dog(Pug)TrainingFilter: So....We have this pug which will turn 1 in November. Hes a sweet little guy however he has some very bad habits. CHewing on any and everything, darts out of the door at any chance and then plays a game having us chase him, barks all the time outside, and pees anywhere he likes. Heres my question....Is $850 in your opinion average, above average,under,etc...to pay someone to train him. The women that would train him takes him for Two weeks and then returns him home. I do know she is good because my brother took his dog to her 7 years ago and his dog behaves great. Just an FYI...we would try a class but to be honest the wife and i just dont have enough time between our jobs and having two kids.

My dog slowly went from loveable goofball to dog park bully. He's been on probation for about 6 months, and I'd like to start the process of re-socializing him and (hopefully) someday return to the dog park. How do I do this without putting any other dogs in danger -- especially considering that I don't currently know any other dog owners, and I don't have a good private space for doggie playdates? Potty training an Adult Dog. We got our 2-year-old Poodle 6 months ago. She's pretty timid and nervous. We don't know anything about her background other than that she was raised with 9 other dogs. When we first got her, she was pooping and peeing in the house. We hired a trainer and followed his suggestions and now she no longer poops in the house. But she continues to pee on one particular carpet... [more inside]

Our recently-acquired dog has been having some major behavior problems and showing some aggression that worries us because we also have a 6-month old child. We've been taking the dog to training classes but so far it hasn't been fruitful. Should we give him back? (TLDR details inside) [more inside]

Hey hive mind! So a friend of mine has an old dog with hip dysplasia and bad back legs. My friend needed a running partner and a new friend for said older dog, so she went out an got herself a pup (about a year old I think)
Now younger dog is nipping back legs of older dog, basically tormenting her. What should my (very upset about this) friend do?

I recently adopted a 2 yr. old Shih Tzu from the pound. He's been to the vet and has a clean bill of health. He's settled very well into things here and I'd like to start working on training him. After reading about several different methods I find clicker training the most interesting but I've never done it before. Anyone have any suggestions or tips? [more inside]

How do I get my 4 year old Jack Rusell to stop peeing on things? He IS potty trained, and neutered, but still seems to be "marking" furniture and corners all over my apartment, and I NEVER catch him in the act. I've heard this is an issue that is more common in Jack Russells. Is there anything I can do to deter this so he won't pee on my new couch? [more inside]

One of my dogs won't shut up. He was fairly quiet when we adopted him about 8 months ago after prior owners surrendered him, but several months of apartment living have encouraged him to bark every time someone walks outside, above, near, in, or around our apartment. He has such a high pitched, loud, piercingly painful bark, that I can't believe our neighbors haven't shot him, had him taken away, or even complained to us. Sometimes I can hear him barking from almost a block away, but I DON'T have reason to suspect he sits and barks all day when home alone. [more inside]

we have two recalcitrant boys. dodgie, the seven year old border terrier, and wedgie the six year old toy poodle.
we also have a newly crawling baby. and a back yard. and a clothes line.
basically.... my boys keep pooing where they always have. in the back yard, wherever they like..... but mostly under the clothes line. and inevitably, i walk in it. it's not special.
