I made a stupid decision: new dog owner

I've adopted a dog from a local shelter, and I may have made a terrible mistake. I'm seriously thinking of returning her, but I've had her less than half a day. See details inside. [more inside]

Dream dog?

My partner and I have been searching for a dog to adopt for the last two month or so - after our interview, home check and lots of hoops we are ready! The shelter we're approved by has found a match - yay! He's a small staffy that's calm, suitable for first time owners (like us), confident, good with kids, and well mannered. The only problem for me is - he's 11 years old. We are open to adult dogs, but we were thinking, uh more like 1 to 8 years old. Does anyone have any experience adopting older dogs? What should we be considering? [more inside]

Help me legally and ethically adopt my dog from a crazy LA rescue org.

When we brought home a new pup from a local rescue organization three months ago, we had no idea we were getting involved with a Crazy Lady. The adoption STILL isn't finalized and we really want to make it official and never deal with them again. Help me understand if their requests are reasonable and officially adopt my dog! playing the field, doggy edition

My husband and I are in the process of adopting a dog. Based on online profiles and email conversations with foster families, we've got it narrowed down to two pups that have been fostered through two local rescue groups. Now we are scheduling in-person meetings with the dogs and "home visits" where they send a volunteer to make sure our house is ok for a dog. Should we be telling each group that we are deciding between two dogs, which we're meeting on Thursday and Friday? [more inside]

Custom-printed pet wear for adoptables?

I volunteer with a rescue group that fosters and adopts out tiny dogs. I am looking for someplace that will custom-print either a collar or a pet bandana with the group's logo, so it's similar to the"adopt me" signs that many adoption groups use. Likely I'm going to want less than a few hundred, which seems to be below the radar for most commercial outfits. Any suggestions for a company that might do that without costing an absolute fortune?

Reputable dog rescue or shelter in Belguim?

A Belgian friend of mine's dog just passed away. Recently, when we lost one of our animals, a different friend made a donation to a shelter she had knowledge of & respected in our pet's name. I found that deeply touching, and now, I would like to do the same for this friend. [more inside]

House training a dog who dwells in a condo with shared corridors and an elevator...

How can I house break a 6-year-old rescued scent hound when I live in a condo with shared corridors and an elevator? After searching many rescue listings, I have found a cute dog that seems to be a good fit for me according to the adoption counselors. I plan to meet the dog this weekend and take her home early next week if all works as planned. The rescue agency told me that she doesn't like pooping on leash, but will urinate on leash. They think she'll be OK with the shared corridors and elevator. I'm mainly worried that she will make a mess in these common areas as I don't want to upset my neighbors. It is my understand that she will poop in the house at times because she doesn't understanding the concept of pooping on leash. [more inside]

Long blond hair and beautiful blue eyes; what's her breed(s)?

Doggy folk, your best guess about this breed/mix, please? Photos: 1, 2, 3. She is two years old, weighs around 27 pounds, and is about 17 inches tall. I don't know much more than that. I haven't met the young lady yet, so I can't tell you much about temperament, etc., except she's supposed to be very sweet, loves the loving, not barky. [more inside]
