I want to attach a small (and waterproof) wireless camera to my mischief-seeking dog's collar and have it send images via the internet every 30 seconds so I can keep an eye on him while at work. He is restricted to an area with a maximum distance of about 200 metres from the wireless router. Ideally I could store and review every photograph over the day. How possible is all of that?

We just got an adorable new puppy. We're ecstatic! The dog, however, seems less enthused... for the past two days, he has done almost nothing but sleep. He has yet to eat anything, and he has no desire to explore our apartment or walk outside. Why is this, and what can we do to help him adjust? [more inside]

My dog licks himself --a lot. The Vet suggested a very expensive (and possibly inconclusive) allergy test. Before spending $700-1000 so the Vet can tell me she has no idea I thought I would consult the hive mind. [more inside]

As usual, we skipped spring here in Texas and went straight to what my Yankee self considers summer. And with summer in Texas comes bugs -- fire ants, chinch bugs, and all kids of other assortments of creepie crawlies. Normally I'd simply diazinon the entire yard and just fuhgetabout it, but this year -- I have a puppy. A puppy that likes eating digging in dirt and rubbing her nose in it. [more inside]

Ok so you've got this highly energetic girlfriend who likes to play lots of physical games and distracts you from your work. You love having her around but she knows all your buttons and sometimes you just need to focus. You just want to distract her away from you for a couple of hours. Your friends say she is just an annoying bitch..... which is *literally* true being canine.... [more inside]

My dog and I play a game every day, in which I spend ten minutes sliding kibbles of dog food across the floor while she chases them. Easily half of them go unnoticed by her because of bad timing on my part, or because she gets distracted mid-throw. Dozens of them end up all over the floor. She will only eat a just-thrown kibble. I can throw one that hurls past her, and she can turn around and touch her lips to each kibble, one at a time, until she finds, unfailingly, the one that I just threw. How does she know?

I live in an apartment building next to a couple who have a dog. This dog is left alone most of the time, and to express his frustration, repeatedly scratches and runs into the apartment door, which creates a loud, annoying noise which I can hear in most of my small apartment. This regularly happens from about 8 in the morning until 9 pm or later. I work every weekday morning at home, so this is particularily irritating. It sounds like they leave NPR running all day, but either the pooch is reacting negatively to Terry Gross, or maybe he's not into talk radio. I left a note for the neighbors several months ago, which they did not respond to. I recently sent them a longer letter explaining that they were violating the house rules of the building and that I would like to meet with them to discuss the matter. Now I have received a note from them saying that they are ready to talk about it. My question: Is there anything I can sugggest to them to reduce the dog's noise, even if they continue to leave the poor thing alone most of the time? I would like to be able to make a constructive suggestion besides "stay home with the dog" or "get rid of the dog". At any rate, if the noise continues, I will be contacting the building's board of directors and pursuing the matter until the dog's noise stops. It just doesn't seem like there is much they can do besides "take care of it or get rid of it" Any info. appreciated!

Can dogs eat beef bones? My dog loves them (the raw discarded sort from butchers or rib joints) but when I give him one he goes crazy, actually consuming the bone and digging into the marrow. It worries me, but I've heard the marrow is good for them. But every time I've given him one I've had to take it away because he just gets too crazy. I know they can't have chicken bones (obviously, ow!) but what are the risks of giving him a beef bone as an occasional primal treat, even if it means he'll likely chew the whole thing up?

My dog won't lift his leg when he urinates. Typically I wouldn't be too concerned about this, except for the fact that he has terrible skin (allergies) and I think that contact from him basically sitting in urine is not helping the problem.

For what it's worth, he is an english bulldog and coming up on his second birthday. Is it just too soon to expect him to raise that leg? Is there anything I can do to expedite the process?

I've always had female dogs before, so this has never been an issue...

We have a stinky dog, and now we have a large stinky rug. Can we unstink the rug? It is about 12' x 10', wool, worn, and it sits atop a fitted carpet (the landlord's) in a bid to stop the latter getting stinky as well. The rug has seen several, uhm, accidents; and the products in supermarket aisle seem to promise so much and deliver so little. It would be a shame to get rid of the rug, seeing how it ties the room together, etc.
