Can you help me identify movies about exercise? About working out, exercise trends, aerobics, jazzercise, etc. Sort of in the vein of this SNL skit. When was the first time "school lunch" was ridiculed in a movie (most likely a teen flick) or a TV show? We're currently producing a documentary on school lunch, and we know that there was a cultural shift in how school lunch was perceived (great social achievement to grotesque laughingstock). If you can help us identify the first instance of this shift in popular culture, we'll give you a film credit.
Besides Lost in America, Easy Rider, Surfwise, and Into the Wild, what other films are about people who make an affirmative decision to live on the road? The closest Wikipedia seems to get is Road Movies, which is not really apt. If not movies, what other cultural works of fiction deal with that kind of decision?
Is there any official source of DVDs or digital copies of Tony Eberhardt's 2003 film "Long Gone" available in the US? The goal is for personal use, not presentation.
I am working on a PhD in music theory and cognition. I hate wasting time, but sometimes my brain needs a break from reading/writing/listening/analyzing. Help me create a list of films and documentaries that relate in some way to my field so that I can stare at a screen sometimes and still feel like I'm feeding my unquenchable desire to learn about music and mind. I'm trying to track down a documentary I saw online years ago. Details are sketchy, but I remember either 8x8 or 16x16 pixel art animation - enlarged. I think they talked about Edison electrocuting an elephant, and many design and art related topics. Two people were narrating and I believe they worked for some kind of design firm. What is the name of, and for bonus points where can I find a copy of that film online?

Looking for a documentary I once saw: Old ladies live together in a house for a while, sort of reality-style. Casual activities, them giving their thoughts on life. At least one of them English, maybe all. Possibly a lake there. Saw it on tv late 90s I think. Very tender. Know it? [more inside]

Looking for a video I saw on the internet before May 2008. It was an interview with a ton of post-processing, making it very surreal. Seeing this image reminded me of the video. I seem to remember the interviewer was an art student, or a student of the interviewee. The interviewee had been down on his luck, and it seemed as if the interview was happening in a soup kitchen or hostel. I associate two words with the interviewee: "video art", but I can't think of any sort of title he might have. [more inside]

I want to make documentary films. What kind of video-camera should I get? [more inside]
I often download documentaries, and generally love them, and frequently feel like I want to give back to the director. Monetarily-wise, that is, as perhaps I didn't pay for them. What do you think of a service that allowed for paypal or such donation to individual directors? Could it work? Alternately, directors of small films could set up a link on their websites, and one could spread the idea memetically. I'm not looking to cash in on this, just to get feedback on an idea of how to assuage my guilt and help support those who make films worthy of support.
