I know you are NMD, but can you help me find a good one? I have a venous malformation that I've had for years, and have tried various treatments without much success, so I need a new doc. Any suggestions for a really good vascular doctor in NYC?

Today is my third day staying home from work with a bad cold-like virus (at least, I assume it's a virus). My girlfriend thinks I ought to see a doctor tomorrow, and I agree. Thus, I need your recommendations for walk-in clinics in Manhattan. Where should I go to get a doctor's opinion?

So. Background: I'm in great shape. Eat well. Drink lightly. Work out at the gym a couple times a week and do martial arts. I'm also in my late twenties.
Last few days I've had a tight feeling in the front of my chest, like a dull, centralized ache. I suppose it could be muscle pain, I did change my workout routine recently. But I've also found myself really short on breath intermittently. (It's hard to describe, kind of a fluttery, panic attack, 'can't catch your breath,' 'butterfly in my heart' feeling.) Coincidence? Could be.
So the question is, should I be running off to see a doctor?
I know they say to consult a doctor about ANY chest pain, but who likes to see doctors, and why would my heart be ailing anyway? I'm inclined to pass it off as nothing, but...

So I figure its time to stop relying on walk-in clinics and get a primary care doctor/general practitioner. I just don't feel comfy looking up a list online and randomly picking one. Does anyone have either a suggestion for finding a good primary care physician/general practitioner or can anyone recommend one in the north Tampa/Lutz area?

What I think is my Achilles Tendon or is in that area at least started hurting like crazy on my right foot when I walk. I would like to see a doctor about this but my health insurance has a super high deductible, and is mainly to keep an unforeseen emergency from bankrupting me. How can I have someone check this out where it won't cost me an arm and a leg, is there some kind of clinic I can go to? Mid 20s, located in LA.

My optometrist just spotted a mystery mass in my left eye that's making my vision partially blurry. She's referring me to a specialist in Seattle who can see me in the middle of next month, but I'd really like to get an appointment sooner--and locally. Can anyone recommend a good, competent ophthalmologist with a decent bedside manner in Bellingham, WA?

I just underwent upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. The GI administered the anaesthetic in a haphazard, guesswork fashion and eventually just gave up and proceeded even though the anaesthetic was clearly having no effect yet. My reflexive reactions to the EGD were pretty violent although I don't think I ended up with any injuries. The drugs kicked in 3/4 of the way through the colonoscopy.
How much of a big deal should I make out of this?

A friend is looking for a fat-friendly general practitioner in Austin, TX. (Someone who subscribes to the idea of
health at every size would be ideal — though really it doesn't matter how they label themself, as long as they're generally sensitive about body-image/weight/food issues. We've seen
this fat friendly health professionals list, but the one GP listed in Austin is apparently no longer practicing here.) Suggestions?

I'm looking for recommendations for a primary care physician who is also a naturopath, acupuncturist, or osteopath, or who at least is receptiveto eastern and/or complementary medicine. Preferably in Santa Monica but will consider the greater west side of Los Angeles. Bonus points if they accept my lousy Blue Shield California HMO insurance. Thanks in advance!

My husband recently had an appointment with a new doctor, primarily to discuss issues of mild depression and a mystery nodule in his inguinal region. Depression is not chronic or severe, and husband has never sought treatment for it before, but doctor (a) prescribed Effexor + Xanax right off the bat; (b) did not discuss "discontinuation syndrome" or other potential side effects; (c) did not look at the nodule at all. What would you do?

Need recommendations for an internist and/or endocrinologist in the metro Denver area, for myself and my husband. Difficulty: We want someone who will skip the weight loss lecture because they realize we've heard it a million goddamn times already and the only thing it's ever done is make us not want to go to the doctor. We don't want the "OMG don't you know fat is bad for you, hurf durf buttereater" crap from here either-- go kick a puppy or something. We only want to know about doctors that will respect our wishes.

I need an MRI of both my lower back and my left knee. The lady in scheduling told me I will have to be in the MRI for 40 minutes for my back, and then I'll come out and then have to go right back in for another 40 minutes for my knee. This doesn't seem right. Why can't I stay in the MRI machine for 40 minutes and then have my back and knee imaged at the same time?
