Did my doctor do this right?

Just had a mole removed from the back of my neck. The doctor gave me a shot of lidocaine (I think) and then sprayed the area with a numbing spray. Shouldn't it have been the other way around? [more inside]

Should I go back to the doctor over being fatigued?

A week ago I suddenly became ill, apparently with some sort of virus. Symptoms included sore throat, general feeling of being dazed, inability to concentrate, queasiness of stomach (did not vomit, but almost did), lack of appetite, and sinus congestion. I went to the doctor, who gave me some meds to combat the symptoms. However, the fatigue has not gone away and may even be getting worse. Should I go back to the doctor, or should I just suck it up and try to push through my responsibilities, delaying a doctor's appointment until perhaps if the fatigue continues for another week? Is cosmetic mole removal covered by insurance?

I have a prominent mole on my face that I'm just tired of looking at -- plus, it's gotten bigger since I was young. I have a consultation with a plastic surgeon soon. (I'd rather he do it than my dermatologist, to minimize the risk of scarring.) If a mole is benign, does insurance typically cover its removal? [more inside]

Looking for doctor or hospital system recommendations for Philly

My long-term family doctor in the suburbs retired, so I need a new general doctor. I now live in the city and would like to switch to one of the hospital systems down here. I'm looking for specific doctor recommendations (general and dermatology) or opinions on UPenn vs Jefferson systems. I have a slight preference for a DO instead of an MD based on positive past experiences with DOs. [more inside]

Doc required me to sign a mandatory arbitration agreement. Sketchy?

I fractured my ankle and went to an orthopedic doctor this week. Before I could see the doctor I was required to sign a form agreeing to waive my rights to a jury trial and solve any problem with arbitration. I've never been asked to sign this in a medical setting and it felt sketchy and coercive since I was in a lot of pain and needed to see a doctor. Is this normal? Should I get a different doc? Why is one of my eyelids now swollen?

My left eyelid has been swollen for about a year. Last year I had my first bout of eczema (atopic dermatitis) that hit my left eyelid. I went to the doctor thinking it was an eye infection, and was prescribed a 2% hydrocortisone creme. That seemed to work, but I have been dealing with on-and-off eczema in various spots ever since. However my left eyelid later got infected, and I went to my dermatologist and got some antibiotics which took care of it-- but the swelling never fully went away. It's not active eczema, it's not infected... my dermatologist and opthamologist have no idea and no suggestions. It isn't red or painful or itchy, and I haven't noticed anything that makes it worse or better food-wise. I definitely notice it's swollen, I can feel it when my eye is open. It's also very apparent in the mirror and in photos. Any ideas on what this is or what to do about it? Or even what kind of doctor to see?

Vintage Calendars From Doctor's Office

When I was a very young kid in the 60's, doctors' offices often had these detailed calendars with tiny elves or hobbity kind of creatures hanging on the wall. Can you recommend a pediatrician in the Twin Cities?

Hi, our favorite pediatrician is moving to a practice out in the far suburbs. We really like her, but it probably makes sense to find someone not so far from where we live. We live in south Minneapolis so someone in the city or a first-ring suburb would be ideal. As a non-doctor, I find it hard to evaluate anyone's medical skills, but we obviously want someone good who also has a rapport with children. We ask lots of questions (we are curious worriers) so a doctor who likes explaining things to parents would be great.
