Where in Toronto can I get my girly parts checked out, if I don't have a family doctor? I have OHIP and have access to the university health centers, although I kinda want to have the check up soon. I've been kind of negligent and haven't gone for a check up in years. I'm 30.
My SO was diagnosed several years ago with an abdominal aortic aneurysm and had been going for monitoring ultrasounds every 6 months or so. However we need a new doctor now -- what kind of specialist can/should we be looking for? [more inside]
I haven't been to the doctor in a long, long time. I am experiencing a rapid heartbeat and am making an appointment. I am pretty convinced I'm dying, and am sitting here crying while looking up doctors online. How can I make this process as painless as possible? [more inside]
My child recently (in the last three weeks or so) has been complaining of stomach aches and I think they are correlated with dairy. I am more than fine trying an elimination diet by avoiding dairy for a time and reintroducing it. But, I was wondering if there is any reason I am not thinking about to see a doctor. Is there any benefit to having a lactose intolerant diagnosis? Is there anything I should be considering for my daughter? I know of some of the tests you can take but should we bother? [more inside]
My PCM says she wants to prescribe me a drug that is in common usage, but she is not allowed to do so. She says that I should find a doctor outside my health plan that can prescribe it. Is this a good idea, and if so, how do I do this? I don't want to waste time or money, or do something idiotic. [more inside]
I need to get a prescription for Lamotrigine. I have been on this drug for years, but my refills are about to run out. I need to find the cheapest way to go about this. I'm in the US and I have not met the deductible on my insurance. I can't go back to the last prescriber because I owe them money I don't have. [more inside]
As a partial follow-up to this question, I would like to talk to someone about prescription treatment but do not have a primary doctor and I'm not sure who's best to see or how to go about making an appointment. [more inside]

Hi all, I had my first appointment with a pain management doctor last week that did not go well. I am curious about the legality of the contract that I was required to sign in order to receive care. [more inside]

How does paying for doctors visit work here in Munich? Will it likely be less than 500 Euros?

I'm going into my last year of nurse practitioner school and am starting clinicals at the end of August. Back in June I found two clinical sites, both family practice. A couple days ago I was told that one of the sites wouldn't be able to host me after all. [more inside]
Lately, I seem to have at least one day every week in which I have a sore throat and generally feel under the weather. I take it easy that day and am usually back to normal the next, but I don't think it is normal to be getting sore throats so often. I eat well, take vitamins/fish oil and exercise, but I do know that I am getting very poor, broken sleep due to stress lately - maybe 5 or so hours - though I get good sleep some nights. Is this worth going to the doctor, or could poor sleep really make you feel bad this often?
I'm looking for an awesome gastro doc (preferrably female) in the South Jersey/philadelphia area. [more inside]
I'm trying to find a list of US medical residency programs and the average step 1 scores of the applicants that are accepted into each program. Google has not been helpful. I've found match rates, quotas, test scores by specialty, and all sorts of other data. But nothing about test scores by residency program. Does anyone know if this data exists and where I can find it? Thanks in advance.
I will be interpreting at a breast biopsy procedure and want to prepare ahead of time, so I'd like to compile a list of vocabulary as well as have a general idea of what happens during the procedure. [more inside]
I have a diaper fetish, and I've been wearing them 24/7 for the past 8 months. Tomorrow is my annual physical. I'm sure that doctors see patients in diapers all the time, but typically for incontinence issues. Naturally the diapers won't have been used before going in (I typically don't use them in public anyway), but is this crossing a professional line? [more inside]
I have to articulate my desire to become a physician, and I'm having trouble explicitly stating my motivations. I work in a hospital and have been shadowing doctors, so I know that they essentially use their understanding of medical science to make diagnoses and come up with a treatment plans. However, I'm curious to know how the "calling" differs between people who want to become physicians, and people who want to become RNs. [more inside]
I need a new doctor in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Can you recommend one? [more inside]
For the last few years I've been going to the Women's Clinic and PP for my routine exams, BC, etc. as needed but it's time to find a regular OB/GYN. I also need to replace my retired GP. Please refer me to your awesome doctors located in the Santa Monica/Venice/MDR/WLA area! [more inside]

I found a lump in my armpit and will be getting it checked out by a doctor. Unfortunately, I work in a contact-based job and my next contract is schedule to begin in August. My benefits, including health insurance, will be in place again at that time, but I'm uninsured during summer months. Is this the sort of thing that can wait until I have insurance again or do I need to go to the doctor right now? [more inside]
I'm looking for a GREAT primary care physician in Washington, DC, preferably in/near Chinatown or Capitol Hill. I'd love someone who could see a new patient in the next week or two (ie, doesn't have a months-long waiting list) and who is part of a larger practice/clinic. [more inside]

Hi! We (husband, wife, child) are moving to London soon (more questions on that to come!) One thing that's really important to me is to be in an area that we can register with a really good GP. I've lived in the UK before, and had hit or miss experiences, and don't want this to happen again -- so much so that I want to suss out the great GPs to help make a decision on where we should live. So, who/where are the awesome GPs in London? Or how else would I go about researching this?
Need an eye doctor can help my friend get the right contact lens prescription. She has a strong astigmatism in one eye, the other's normal. She's been to 4 eye doctors here and gone through many many different lenses shapes w/o success. For what it's worth, she has lenses that worked before - but from a doctor on the West Coast. Thanks!
My penis hurts and I think I shouldn't have told my doctor about my lifestyle. I need advice on prognosis and dealing with privacy in a big HMO. [more inside]
Approximately two weeks ago (I think) I was out in the woods and was possibly bitten by something on the knuckle of my ring finger. The next day the spot ached in the joint, but no other symptoms. Over the last few days, though, the pain has returned and worsened, and now it appears to be getting puffy. Should I go see a medical professional about this? [more inside]
Late night medical advice needed: my lovely cat nearly fell off the bed, and caught herself using my face. My lip, specifically. I've got a v shaped cut 4-5 mm long on one side and 2mm short side and it's somewhere around 2 - 3 mm deep. Clean and bandage? Go to emergency room? Regular doctor in the morning? [more inside]
What are your strategies for finding the best doctor (or at least a very good doctor) for a particular procedure? [more inside]
I got drunk a couple days ago. Besides my hangover being horrendous (per usual), for maybe half the day my hands were slightly trembling and I couldn't get them to stop. They're doing better now, but my hands have never shaken before, and I'm worried that my drinking is starting to catch up with me. Would this be a reason to call the doctor, and if so are there any tests/checks I should ask to have done? Details inside. [more inside]

I'm looking for a concierge medical practice. People in this question, as well as on Yelp and other review sites, have raved about One Medical. Unfortunately, the nearest One Medical is in Berkeley and no way am I going to drive that far to see my doctor. I'd like suggestions on a good concierge doctor or medical practice in Central Contra Costa County. [more inside]

I don't know what help I need anymore, or even if I need help. I have a lifelong history of depression and the past two and half years, I've experienced more life stressors than normal. The original reasons I made the appointment was to a. get a new script for my anti-anxiety medication (which is also meant to help my depression), especially as I accidentally abruptly ceased it over 5 days ago, and b. a referral to a new psychiatrist to prescribe ADHD medication. [more inside]
I recently went to a functional medicine doctor. The administrative staff has been negligent. She misdiagnosed me and recommended unnecessary testing. Not to mention the cost! I don't think I should go back, but should I write a letter? Details behind the cut. [more inside]
I visited my GP for a myriad of symptoms that she suspects is endometriosis. I'm headed to my Lady Doc on Monday, but wasn't terribly concerned. I thought it would be similar to the LEEP I had last year, as in "Zap zap, you're done." I wasn't even bothered—that is until I emailed a friend about her experience with endo. Help me parse what my friend is saying vs. what my GP said I should do? I'm feeling some pressure to move quickly. [more inside]

I don't really trust that I'm getting a good eye exam from my optometrist (chain store) and felt the same about the previous two (local practice and another chain store.) Given that I'm not a doctor myself, how do I find/get a better eye exam or gain a reasonable confidence I'm getting a good exam in my current situation?
