I'm a tall, skinny software developer, (6'5"/196cm) who cannot find a desk even remotely what I need/want in terms of style, quality, and size. I am going to have a carpenter build me a desk. Google has found me nothing. Do you have a desk you love? What makes you love it? Are you a tall person who finds they need keyboard/mouse at exactly the right height? How did you solve this? Do you have plans you love or a desk design you can recommend? [more inside]

How do I put casters on the bottom of this bookshelf? The bottom looks like this. The bookshelf itself is of some kind of MDF or high density particleboard, i.e. not pure wood. I want to put casters on the bottom of the bookshelf, but the strip of wood that touches the floor is too narrow for a plate caster like this. Can I somehow put a screw into the end of the particle board to fit a caster like this? How? Details inside. [more inside]

In the latest Dwell magazine there was a house featured with a chair made from pallets. Very simple and elegant, it also had a small mention of a company called Tolstrup. Help me find the downloadable plans mentioned. [more inside]

I'm trying to find designs/plans for furniture made by cutting out the pieces from a single sheet of plywood & using only slots & grooves to hold them together, no nails, screws or glue. I've seen them online before, on some DIY blog or maybe boingboing, but I've looked at every site I can think of & done a fair amount of googling & come up blank. Anybody know what I'm talking about & can give me a pointer?

Hi all. Does anyone know of a good place to buy furniture kits? What I mean is unassembled, unfinished furniture, preferably shipped to your door. In particular I am looking for a "breakfast bar" or "kitchen island." Is there a store like this?
