My husband has agreed that we should be divorced and has agreed in e-mail several times over several months to pay the court/filing and paralegal fees for this NY non-contested divorce with no kids or property. But he lives out of the country (I live in the US, he lives in Brazil), and I can't seem to actually get him to get me the money. I'm looking for help with strategies to get the funds (around $700 in total).

I was with my ex-wife for a long, long time. She cheated; we separated and ultimately got an easy divorce. We’ve each moved on, and I’m close to proposing to my girlfriend after about two years together. We’re a great pair. But I often feel unanchored, cast about by the knowledge that nothing lasts forever. Am I doing it wrong? Other divorced folks (esp. those on the dumped side)—what’s the path forward?

My partner and I are ontemplating separation and I am thinking of moving several towns over. I have read stories of parents separating and the benefits of the two homes being close as in a few blocks. But what should I know about making it work for myself and my kid when the homes are further apart?
I would like to hear positive advice from parents and kids who have negotiated two homes with a little distance between them . Were their plusses to this distance to balance out the minuses? How did you make it work?

During a period of insanity, I got married in the early 90s while living in the UK. I am an Australian citizen, and I married a Brit. A short time later, our relationship had burnt itself out, and ended somewhat acrimoniously. As we had very few shared assets, we just walked away from each other & lost contact.

I'm in my late twenties, and my unhappily married parents are getting a rather acrimonious divorce. Both parents want my support, but I've sort of been mostly focusing on my father, as he is depressed, lonely (my mother has a new partner) and has to sell the family home by himself. This has caused my (formerly very close) relationship with my mother to disintegrate to the point where we are no longer on speaking terms, which has placed a lot of unwanted stress on me (I've just come out of an eight year relationship). How do I patch things up with my mother without everything getting emotional? (Long explanation inside)
