How to best publish lack of findings

I completed my Masters dissertation (in the UK) which used a research-area standard measure to compare two populations of subjects. Nothing I hypothesised was found to be significant, and actually, even with heavy stratifying and manipulation, I couldn't find any links. I did, however, find a problem with the measure. Its creator is still doing research. How can I best share this problem to encourage others to look at it? [more inside]

what happens when you fail a dissertation defense?

i got to thinking this question after the recent firing Elizabeth O'Bagy from her think tank gig. O'Bagy had written a wall street journal op-ed that was cited by both Kerry and McCain in talks about possible intervention in Syria. Ms. Bagy's employer fired her for falsely representing that she had a Ph.D, but it seems more complicated than that. [more inside]

Online Work Tracking Solutions for PhD student writing buddies?

There seems to be huge number of online work/project tracking/logging programs out there, but they are mostly designed for small businesses and freelancers (e.g. focussed on invoicing) and charge by the month. I've seen a few that look OK like Toggl and Slimtimer but none that seems ideal for my needs yet. Can anyone recommend ones (ideally free and with the ability to track different tasks & share that tracking/logging) that are easy to use, have decent functionality, and would be good for 2 friends working on writing their PhD theses and would like to try and help each other keep track of how much work they're doing? Help me write my MA thesis...PLEASE?

Okay, this is a long-shot, I know, but I need help finding information about someone referenced in a random Ph.D thesis I came across on teh intarwebs. His ideas are about the use of patterning in High School English education, and I'd like to acknowledge them in my own thesis. His name is Chad Wolf and he taught at Jefferson High School in '00-'01. My Google-fu is weak, but all my attempts return nothing. All the information I have below the fold. [more inside]

Would it be rude to ask a professor for a potential list of other professors?

I'm in the process of looking at graduate schools in philosophy, which is a difficult task when trying to match up my niche specialty with potential professors. I've been able to track down five different professors, but I was wondering if it would be rude to ask if they had any suggestions on where/who to look. I'm located in the United States, but this academic community is 99% located outside of here, and browsing the associated journals and conferences hasn't been too helpful because the names I'm coming across are graduate students and names that aren't popping up on Google.

Writing a scientific paper on scientific illustration - where can I find sources?
