Concert date changed without notice, entitled to refund?

I purchased tickets well in advance of the gig date. The gig was re-scheduled to a date I was unavailable. I did not receive any email of notification about the rescheduled date. After speaking to customer services, the ticketing company claims to the contrary to have notified me. The email stated that I had 10 prior to the show to claim a refund. It is now well past that date (mid Aug), and the gig has passed (1st Sept) without my collecting the ticket which was held by the venue. They sent me proof that an email has been sent in the form of a `Track Message' screenshot from a `Secure Email Gateway'. But on my end, I've not been able to find any such email. MeFi, do I have any possibility of disputing this for a refund?

How do you tell someone to stop saying "I told you so"?

You have bad news/concern about yourself. You tell someone about what's going on. The person says that it is your own fault - which is true, but seems like a variant of I told you so. You tell that person it seems like the wrong time to say that. The person doubles down on the statement. You walk away from the person - swearing to yourself that you won't ever talk to them about bad news/concerns about yourself. This feels like a big case of "I told you so", which I hate. How could this have gone better? [more inside]

My plants need a lawyer.

My neighbor caught my ivy growing on their wall. They're a coop. I own my attached building. Their tree sticks its branches into my walkway. What kind of lawyer handles these types of disputes? Have any of you had experience with this and can recommend someone? We are in Manhattan.

Neighbor wants to replace wall separating our gardens, what do I do?

My NYC townhouse has a garden in the back. The garden has a wall around it, which has been there for decades. Two nearby trees has caused it to bow out of alignment toward my neighbor's garden, though not dramatically so. My neighbor claims in a letter to me that the wall will one day collapse into her garden, and wants us to share the cost of replacing the wall, before that happens, with a fence. She also said that if I don't agree to do this, I better make sure that my insurance covers the possible damage to her property that a collapse could cause. I think my neighbor (who is wealthy) just wants a new fence for aesthetic reasons so it matches other fencing on her property, and that the wall is fine -- and I have some questions for the hive-mind... Middleman when contractor and vendor disagree?

The edges of both cabinets next to the dishwasher have swollen and expanded from steam coming out of the dishwasher. They were only installed a couple of months ago. But who pays for the new cabinets: the contractor who installed the cabinets & dishwasher, or the appliance store who sold us the dishwasher (which leaked the steam that made the cabinets swell)? And who can cut this Gordian Knot of personalities for me? [more inside]

What are my odds of filing and winning this credit card dispute?

I run a small company and recently signed up to sell my items at the companies weekly farmers market as well as a big all day festival that they are putting on in September. What's my recourse?

I hired a marine contractor in Rhode Island to build a pair of centerboards for my boat ($12k). They were delivered 3 months late and didn't fit. I was very clear about the dimensions, yet the builder's designer altered the shape without consulting me. They've admitted fault in emails and in person, apologized, yet won't make the situation better. They offered a refund if I pay shipping charges to/from, customs and excise, and any damages. I don't feel I should pay $2k out of pocket and end up with nothing. What do I do to get justice? Report them to the Better Business Bureau? Hire a lawyer? Go to court or arbitration? Say mean things about them and buy a voodoo doll? Am I entitled to damages beyond the $12k? Any advice welcome.

Fellow MeFi's, I am debating whether I should dispute the outcome of a marine insurance claim. Any input from someone that has dealt with insurance companies would be greatly appreciated. How to handle a goober for a landlord?

I've got eleven months to go on a lease, and a whole slew of problems with a new (to me) apartment, and a cheap, possibly negligent landlord. How do I remedy them? LOTS of details inside. But if you don't want to read the whole kit-and-caboodle inside here are the Cliff notes: (a) Landlord took more than weeks to fix the unusable bathroom sink; blamed the repairman. (b) Landlord expects me to find/select/transport the washer/dryer he’s obligated by lease to provide, and was missing on our move-in, and for less than $200. (c) Landlord flat-out refused to clean disgustingly smelly carpets we encountered on moving day (d) Landlord reneged on verbal agreement to replace crappy kitchen linoleum (e) Landlord made repeated, guilt-trippy and borderline abusive calls about first month's rent, and (bonus) (f) makes (super odd) references to lesbians.
