I want to be able to use my 32" television as a secondary computer monitor for games/movies. There are many tutorials for doing this on the internet but I'm having a heck of a time actually getting this to work. What am I doing wrong? [more inside]

I just bought a new graphics card. The only thing I need it to do is to output my computer display to a television. To this effect, the card has three output options: (1) RCA, (2) S-video, (3) HD (red, blue and green cord). The first two options work great. The third, which is the one I'm really jonesing for, doesn't. What appears on the TV through the HD-out is all wonky and strange -- I can sort of make out stuff, but just barely. Any ideas as to how to get this up and running? I'm on XP (Home Edition), and here is the TV I'm using.

Last night the Spousal Unit and I went to a large electronics store in an abortive attempt to buy a television. In looking at the walls of monitors, it seemed like the sets were not adjusted to display optimally--or even adequately. In fact, it seemed there was a subtle (or not so) rigging of set adjustment to favor more expensive sets. This question is to someone who has worked at one of these shops or their ilk: is it carelessness, or is it marketeering? [more inside]

I'm looking to pick up a flat panel display, at least 20", and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or opinions based on LCDs they own currently? What are the salient things to look for, particular to LCDs? I doubt I'll be using the flat panel much for 3D gaming, but I want something that won't artifact at all? I'm looking for something in the mid-range, price-wise, but obviously the cheaper, the better. Thanks.
