Praising Others - Dependent Personality Disorder

Is there a specific disorder when one goes to all costs to avoid rocking the boat, overpraises others , and always feels the need to project a sunny emotional state all in order to gain the affection and adoration of others? (While actually being in a state of anxiety about being liked?)

what works when zoloft does not?

I am getting very discouraged dealing with anxiety disorder (not social, general) and depression. I am taking Sertaline (zoloft) which does not seem to be touching it although it had worked in the past. I am seeing a psychiatrist as well as my GP. This has been several months altogether, two weeks on the higher dose plus an anti-anxiety drug that does not do much either, low dose. [more inside]

Why does sleepiness elude me?

As I head into the darkness of winter in Northern England, I'm starting to notice the same pattern I suffered from last year...sleeping even less than I normally do (4-6 hours instead of 6-7). I'm not even sleepy or remotely tired until 2, 3, sometimes even 4 am, when I force myself to fall asleep. I wake up at 8 or 9 (sometimes earlier). What could be happening here, physiologically or otherwise? If it's related to the lack of sun/light, how does that even work? [more inside]

Tips on Fighting Irrational Anxious Thoughts?

I struggle greatly with anxiety and am on a crazy amount of meds simply to sleep and relax. I am doing things to get through such as exercise, yoga and breath/meditating. One of the things that I read and have been implementing is answering 'cognitive distortions' with reality-based answers. Basically, I think I'm helpless (it spirals from an event to "I'm going to lose my job" all the way to "I'm not going to make it"). I've read the books like Feeling Good and do techniques on paper but am not sure how to think realistically and come up with any responses that I believe. This has been going on for some time. Any others who struggle and have tips on how you have tackled cognitive distortions (aka Bullshit Thoughts)? I am not in a hurry and am willing to put in solid effort. I am asking for help but am willing to try to believe I'm not helpless in the long haul. (BTW, I haven't been able to afford a counselor....yet.)

Why Don't I See Honey Bees In My Garden?

I live in norther New Jersey. I have planted a lot of flower and herbs in my yard this spring. I also have a vegetable garden which is full of blossoms. I keep my yard herbicide and pesticide free. Help me stay awake!

I'm starting college tomorrow, and I have a problem. If I have to sit through a long talk (class, lecture, church, doesn't matter what) I'll start falling asleep. It usually happens around ten minutes into it, regardless of how much sleep I've had the night before. I've tried going to bed earlier, sleeping longer, pinching myself and drinking water through classes. I don't drink caffeine in the morning, so I know it's not a crash. This tiredness only lasts as long as the class does; as soon as it's over, I regain full alertness and it's as if I was never tired at all. [more inside]
