I've recently come across someone who disputes the Germ Theory of Disease. Has anyone ever heard of such a crazy thing before?

A tick dug its foul way into my dog's belly yesterday. We found it dug in but not yet engorged in the middle of an irritated red patch of skin. I tugged 2/3 of of it out of my dog's skin, but despite my best efforts, the head's still in there. What now?

The incidence of peptic ulcer disease in hyperparathyroidism is increased, presumably due to hypercalcemia leading to increased gastrin secretion. Why does calcium stimulate G-Cells to secrete calcium? I am trying to find a precide physiologic reason. Is there another reason for this link between HyperPTH and duodenal ulcers. Thanks!

I'm not a tinfoil hat type of guy but just in case, what vaccinations or immunizations should I, as a 30 year old american, get? Let's say I budgeted $1,000 to cover the bases; I'm not planning on taking any trips to the jungle, working with blood, doing drugs or having anal sex. What could I take care of with a budget like that?

ObscureMovieFilter:
DagMaggot's question jarred a memory I have of a film I saw several years in a row in grade school (late '70s). It was a Japanese film in which a boy loses his mother to some disease (possibly cancer)? As I recall, the mother used to entertain her son by folding origami, and I remember a scene with lots of snow. I also don't remember much, if any, dialog.
It's not a lot to go on, but that's all I remember, and I haven't been able to find it since. Pointers appreciated.
