Hi, MeFi. I've had a medical condition for the past month which involves numbness in my hands and face, headaches, fatigue, emotional distress, and other unpleasant symptoms. I know YANMD, and I am in fact already seeing a doctor and will soon be seeing a neurologist. I'm sorry about the wall of text, but if any of this sounds familiar, please let me know -- it would really help when talking to my doctors!

After seeing my mother suffer from myriad health problems due to her depression and obesity, I am freaking out that my destiny is written in my genes. Please help figure out how to change the things I can and accept the things I cannot. I also welcome stories/advice from children of unhealthy people who learned from their parents' mistakes.

My health, both physical and mental has been on a roller coaster over the past 3 months. I have undergone many tests and the doctors have said, quantitatively, I am the picture of health; therefore the very real physical symptoms I am experiencing must be due to anxiety. I am open to that possibility, but need more convincing...

Can you help narrow down what sort(s) of doctor(s) to see and what to investigate, given these symptoms? All symptoms have cropped up within the last two years. Before that, I felt healthy most of the time. Primary care doc has been little help, and most of the specialists seem to focus only on the symptoms within their own areas of expertise.

I’m about to undergo some pretty major role changes in my life, and I’m not sure I have the tools and tricks to deal with those changes. I need strategies / diversions / projects that will help me become a better caregiver for my little sister, who is faced with a dire medical prognosis, while at the same time trying to retain my own identity in this crisis. After a week of what was diagnosed as some form of Viral Syndrome Meningitis, I just found a big target-shaped rash on the back of my leg. Looks just like the pictures. This started on Sunday of Labor Day weekend after camping. Now that I'm pretty sure it's Lyme Disease what should I ask for and do first? I'm about 10 days into the infection.
