Xbox scratches game discs

Our Xbox 360 is scratching the discs. What can we do? My son's Xbox 360 is scratching his discs. At first I was blaming him for moving the unit and causing it to scratch but now I know it is not his fault. The unit is in a secure position and has not been moved. He is on his 3rd Halo 3 disc and it has circular scratches on it.

Google has shown us that there are problems with this but most mention things in EU as far as getting help.

Has anyone in the US had this issue? What can be done? These games are too expensive for this and he has to use his own money. The unit was purchased in about 2 years ago.

How to make my own karaoke discs from scratch?

How do I take a song off a regular cd, add viewable lyrics (and whatever else is necessary) and turn it into a karaoke disc that I can hand to the kj at a karaoke joint?

I already have evil lyrics and some other audio software, but I can only find reference to working with songs that are already on a cdg ... no references in my audio programs to exactly how to make one myself. Further info: Evil lyrics will yield me a .kar and help me sync it to the music I'm playing ... but it doesn't explain what a .kar is or what to do with it.

And I want to make my own rather than find or purchase karaoke tracks because I tend to pick nonmainstream songs that are often not found anywhere but on the cd's I bought them on!

Thanks in advance!

Copper disks/slugs

I'm looking for a supplier of copper slugs or disks, 7/8" in diameter, 3/16" thick. Does anyone know of a company in Canada or the U.S. that ships to Canada. I've been cutting them from round stock but that is time consuming and wasteful.

Alternatively, is there another name for small round metal disks that I should be googling?

Floppies have given up the ghost, but Ghost won't give up the floppies?!

Floppy disks? Are you kidding me? I haven't used Symantec Ghost in a long time, but am forced to at the moment. Even back then, floppies were on the way out, and now they're flat-out gone. But as far as I can tell, Ghost still absolutely flat-out requires you to use floppies (which can then be transferred on to CDs) in order to function. Am I right? And if I am, isn't this absolutely insane?

What is this game called?

please help me remember the name of this game A few years ago I got addicted to an online game that was like a combination of shuffleboard & chess ("shufflechess"?) where two players were matched against each other over a chessboard, and each team had two rows (if I remember correctly) of discs, which had to be shoved across the board, ricocheting off of other discs & even the back wall of the playing area, and I think the winner was the guy who ended up with more of his discs covering the other players front two rows. Oh, and you couldn't directly dislodge a competitor's discs from your rows, as your shot had to originate from the third row, so you'd have to go the length of the board, off the back wall and back to try and unseat a competitor's piece. Eventually the game moved to a "pay to play" model, and I stopped playing it, met my wife, settled down, got a job, etc. But prior to all that I just played the game 24 hours a day, and am curious to see if another version exists online somewhere.

What do I do with dead media and old discs?

The tyranny of data: what should I do with dead media and old data? I've just moved and am trying to boldly face the clutter which came with me. This includes a significant amount of 3.5" floppy discs and zip discs (oh, and some 5.25" floppies -- they're so cute!). I have a zip drive but I don't think it will work on this fancy-pants Mac laptop I have, nor am I sure that I want it to. As a former internet content producer and web freelancer, I've got lots and lots of discs marked Company Logos, Silly Ancient Website for Small Business, Photoshop Images, Pagemaker (!) Files, etc. Not to mention three (PC) hard drives from who knows which machines and who know what's on them.

There are a few which are marked as containing family photos which I should try to view and reclaim somehow. But, what about the rest? What do you all do with all this old media, stuff you'll never look at. This stuff might be pretty fun to show around the old folks' home someday (Lookit this here craaazy markup!) but my husband is going to kill me if I try to squirrel these away as some sort of memento. Because, that would be nuts, right?

Nine Dell diskies hanging on a wall...

What to do with eight free, unused, uneeded and perfectly legal discs of Windows ME? You may remember I was the gal with the Dell fiasco and the lack of backing up of 10 years of data... Anyway, I was waiting for Dell to send me a copy of Windows for a reinstall, and lo, didn't NINE identical packages arrive in the post. Naturally I'll be using one for the reinstall, but now I'm at a loss as what to do with the others.

The devil on one shoulder says for me to sell them on ebay [prolly gettin arrested in the process], and/or otherwise profit and get back at The Man. The angel on the other shoulder announces I verrily have eight new coasters - either that or I should bin them or return them to Dell. The stubborn side of me really doesn't want to do the last option - it ain't my fault the PC broke in the first place. My orifices complain they don't want to be raped if I go to jail for... however they'd term the crime, if I profited.

So, what would YOU do? And what's the going rate of these discs?
