I'm taking 2100mg Gabapentin daily for an impinged nerve in my neck due to degenerative disc disease and stenosis. I want to step down off the drug because of the side effects I'm experiencing. If the drug is actually doing something to heal the problem then I won't, but if it's just acting as a pain reliever with no other benefits then I'd prefer the pain over the side effects. I was diagnosed with bulging L4/L5 discs with spondylolysis and stenosis. Doctor convinced me to get epidural / facet injections. After the shots, I started getting very bad sciatica ( I think its sciatica ). I could hardly stand in the shower. Before the shots I was running half marathons. Now I can't run at all. I can't lift heavy things. Only walking makes it feel better. Its been six months with no improvement. The quality of my life is way worse than it was before. What happened post injection? Can anyone recommend a good back doctor / orthopedist in Austin?
After 2 years of dealing with an insane doctor who told me that God and Tylenol will cure me, I finally got a new doctor who sent me to a neurologist who diagnosed me with a neck hernia or rather, C5 C6 disc herniation. In addition to MRI findings, they also found out that I have Clonus. [more inside]
After a nightmare MRI experience sometime in 2011 I found out that I have a cervical disc herniation on c3, c4, c5, c6. The pain was so severe that I was unable to move my neck to right side without feeling like I was going to pass out. Now that I've gotten my first coritsone shot and feel alive, I would love to work at gym on strentheting my cervical discs so I can beat this problem and avoid having to marry cortisone shots for the rest of my life. What are some excercise machines and workouts I can safely use to strengthen my neck without damaging it further? [more inside]
I recently stumbled across this image, and I'd like to buy it. However, Google Search by Image didn't yield any applicable results, and I wasn't able to come up with the right Google phrasing to yield anything meaningful. Anyone know where I might be able to buy this (preferably via an online retailer, e.g. Amazon, etc.)?

I used to play a lot of disc golf 10-15 years ago, but haven't played much at all in the past decade. I recently took it up again, and quite frankly, I stink. I'd like to at least be able to be within a couple strokes of par. Am i better off just playing as many rounds as possible, or should I devote some of my time to just practicing my driving, putting, etc? What else can i do to make myself better at disc golf?

I've used the Toshiba RD-XS32SU recorder for years; it's an excellent device for recording tv programs and making dvds. It has a wide variety of extremely useful editing features. Although it's no longer being made since Toshiba decided to focus on blu-ray, it's been long regarded as the premiere video recorder. Alas, my recorder is now refusing to recognize any brand of disc when I try to load. The only way it will accept a disc is after it's been unplugged for several hours. Then it will load one disc, but after that, no more. Since college football season is here and I record many games and burn them to dvds, I'm in the market for a reliable recorder. What models do you recommend, techie members of the hive mind? Are there any reasonably priced ones that include the editing features of the Toshiba RD-XS32SU? Thanks in advance!

Hey everybody, I asked about my leg pain/sciatica and got a lot of helpful answers last time. This is a followup on the same topic. I recently got an MRI back that says I have "There is a large extradural mass extending posterior to the L4-5 or L5-S1 intervertebral discs most likely L5-S1. This likely reflects an extruded disc fragment from a disc herniation. There is extensive effacement of the right S-1 nerve root. This extends up to the level of the L4-5 disc. Diffuse central disc bulging is present at L3-4. No compression fractures or other bony abnormalities are identified." My chiropractor said that I have the next to worse kind of herniated disc and that it is "leaking" and putting pressure on the nerve. He was anti-surgery last time, but after seeing the MRI said that is pretty much my only treatment option at this point for relief. I am having horrible leg pain and am on pain killers pretty consistently. I am mildly freaked out about surgery, but I need to get back on track with my life. Please help me get a better understanding if you have any experience. Thank you! [more inside]
