Hi. My hair always has felt icky and grimy when showering at home. It's almost like there is a buildup of residue in my hair. I have tried many different shampoos. I showered at my friend's house the other day, and my hair felt clean for the first time in a while. I could literally feel the difference as I shampooed. My hair stayed clean for days, whereas at home I would have to wash it every day. I tried my friend's shampoo at home with the same icky residue feeling, so I know that it is not the shampoo; the only other reason I can think of would be the water. I don't know much about this. Could shower water be an issue, and is there anything I could try to fix the problem?

I'm starting a book club among my friends where we just read the dirty bits from popular books to each other. They don't even have to be popular books - just books that I can actually find easily. And it's not exactly a book club. More like a reading-to-each-other club. Anyway, can you remember and recommend any notably hot sex scenes from books you might have read? [more inside]

Im looking for a neighborhood to move to with no lots of pigeons around the subway stations.
All borough including Jersey City are considered, but I'm really trying to stay in affordable ones.
I find all lower Brooklyn are ridden by the rats with wings, especially D train Ft.Hamilton pkwy and all stops follows, all lower part of N trains especially Bay Pkwy.
I also found lots of pigeons at grove st stop of PATH in Jersey city.
Queens seems hae more rodent problems.
Please help give some advice about really clean and affordable neighborhood in NYC.
I caught Lyme disease in one dirty residence. I am sick with rats and rats with wings in NYC.

I'm generally a very, very messy girl. It's really cramping on my style and how I feel about myself. I feel pretty close to the people on Hoarders when I really let myself go (which happens when my mother doesn't get on my case every week)... I just simply have no energy or motivation to cleaning my room. My poor mother has no idea why I am the way I am.
I also do NOTHING over the weekend. If I'm at home for a break, I have an insanely hard time getting anything done, doing ANYTHING productive. I do EVERYTHING last minute. It's insane, stressful, horrid. I have a hard time following through on anything important, any big projects on a long-term basis. While I have some successes (doing decently at school, have cultivated some cool hobbies, have had some great experiences, have learned a lot, etc) I think I'm reaching about 30% of my potential. I have some sneaking suspicions why I'm this way, but how do I change this? [more inside]

Ok probably sounds disgusting, but I just have a theoretical interest in this ever since I moved to my new apt with a balcony frequent by the flying rat kind.
I don't have time in the morning but I frequently spray some bleach water solution on the pigeon feces to scrape off later, and then I was wondering what chemically happens to the feces (or well, anything organic that contains pathogens and bacteria) when soaked in bleach.
Are the soaked feces on the railing theoretically "clean" and sanitized? What happens??? What is left over? I don't intend to leave them there, just curious.
BTW: any tips to keep pigeons away while at it? We covered all the balcony railings in reflective tape. It looks like a camp, silver palace now, but they still like it.

I've been looking for info on showering/bathing in relation to sweating and whether it's sanitary or not. I can only seem to find articles that basically say "yeah, you need to shower cause you'll smell" but can't find anything that confirms whether or not it's actually sanitary or not e.g. infections. What do ya'll think/know? [more inside]

I live in Manhattan. Now that it's Fall, I want to have my window open without having a black layer of dirt coating all the surfaces near the window. Do they make air filters that I can just fit into my open window to let the fresh air in and keep the dirt out? Should I have find an adjustable HVAC filter and jam it in there?
How do you keep your windows open while not having your apartment look like a tail pipe?

We've been living in a house in Oregon that has been converted from a four bedroom to a two bedroom plus pottery studio. We've recently had some major issues with the landlords regarding a plumbing issue (see previous question
). Well, the landlords wanted us to pay half of the plumbing bill. I said "Hell No" then they asked us to move. They have found new tenants and I don't want the owners to get away with the shit they pulled on us. [more inside]

Bad smells filter through the heating system in my building, meaning that my apartment - and by extension, me - smell like these bad smells (cigarette smoke + other). Help us both to smell like something more pleasant? [more inside]

How does my dish drying rack get so dirty so quickly? It seems that within 2-3 days, it's covered with some kind of slime or other debris. The only things I put in it are (clean) dishes so I'm not sure how it happens. [more inside]

Say you wank a lot in a single session, so much so that you end up feeling kind dirty and icky. Do you know that feeling? I hope so, otherwise I'm a weirdo. Well I've been getting that feeling randomly throughout the day without a trigger that makes sense to me. What is it and how can I stop it? [more inside]

I don't normally wash my clothes after each wearing. I'm lazy/cheap and I hate wastefulness. But I also don't like to fold them up and put them back in the drawer, because even a little smell or dust will negatively effect the surrounding clean clothes. Both my boyfriend and I do this, and we do not have a good place to put these limbo clothes in our apartment. Where/how do we store our not clean, not dirty clothes?

On the topic of songs with robots and warped vocals, I seem to remember a video of Bender from Futurama to the tune of "Dirty Robot" by Arling & Cameron (from their "We Are A&C" album). Did I just dream this or did it really exist? If so, where? Bonus points for providing a link to media.
