Sukuma Wiki is hands down the best weeknight recipe. I'd like to find more like it. Keep reading for the particulars. [more inside]
I'm looking for prepared meals or food they sell in their cafes, specifically. I like to grab a meal when I do my shopping that I can eat as soon as I get home. Less than 10 minute prep time required. Thanks!
Most weeknights, I'm responsible for figuring out and cooking a dinner for two adults and a 1-year-old that is on the table by no later than 6pm. I am hands-down finding this the most unpleasant and soul-killing part of day-to-day parenting, as making it to the grocery store is extremely difficult during the workweek and the last thing I want to be doing on the weekends. I'm looking for recommendations of either a cookbook or specific recipes that use ingredients that are likely to already be present in my pantry, freezer, and/or spice rack. [more inside]
I need to make a giant pot of stew today to eat all week long. What should it be? Challenge Level: Vegetarian or vegan preferred. Protein is a must. Healthy is best. Cooking time: Doesn't matter, I have all day! [more inside]

I had my life changed recently by a magazine article that showed me how to prepare a complete dinner for the whole week in 10-15 minutes per night with a few hours prep on Sunday, all for under $100. But it seems to be the only article of its kind! Please help me find more. [more inside]
I heard a story on This American Life HERE and it's a story about a sausage maker who inadvertently ruins their product by getting a new building. IN the end, it turned out the problem was they had shortened the route of the final delivery of the sausages and removed what was thought to be the unimportant work of a clerk named Irving. I thought it was fascinating and I want to find other stories like that. Where would I look for them?
I'm looking for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas for my 14-month-old. Help me out of my toddler food rut! We are both sick of rice cakes with peanut butter on them. [more inside]
Which standard recipes, with meat as a key ingredient, have clear vegetarian analogs? Examples, to be clear: for every hamburger, there is a veggie burger (eggplant, cauliflower, etc). Chili con carne becomes chili sin carne. For meatloaf there is Neatloaf. What else should I be thinking of? "Buy fake meat" is not heading in the right direction; "google 'vegetarian [meaty food]'" is a realistic suggestion but which foods?
I have a baby, a preschooler, a commute, and a spouse who works late. I need dinner to magically appear on the table within minutes of walking in the door. I don't know if this will involve a genie, a person, a recipe, or "one easy trick restaurants don't want you to know" like those shady sidebar ads. [more inside]
I bought 2 pounds (the smallest size I could find) of plain whole milk yogurt, not realizing that there was an almost-empty container in the fridge. So now I have all this yogurt with a best-by date of August 5. What are your favorite ways to use it? I'm especially interested in vegetarian main dishes (bonus points for using CSA-type veggies), but would also like ways to pair it with chicken or fish.
I am having some friends over to my house for chill night of catching up and watching movies. I very rarely socialize in my home, so I am somewhat clueless about hosting people. There will be four of us, and one person is breastfeeding so no alcohol for her. I am thinking about daiquiris since they are delicious and can easily be made with no alcohol. But I am stumped for food. [more inside]

What would Jesus bring? Just moved, most of my kitchen stuff is still in boxes, but want to bring something homemade. Hosts making "a" salmon, so I assume that means whole and poached or roasted, so I'll bring a nice pinot noir. But what side or dessert or whatnot would work and be easy enough with let's say just a skillet and a pasta pot and a few tools to work with? (I don't have myrrh either.) Help! Thanks!
I'm out of ideas for something delicious and simple to cook tonight, but which does not require many ingredients. Assuming I have all the basics in my cupboard (onions, garlic, pasta, rice, potatoes, eggs, milk, herbs and spices etc) what should I make for dinner tonight? [more inside]
How standard is the 3-meals-a-day eating behaviour? What about times of day for eating, x-culturally? It would be interesting to hear any insights from folks outside of North America. Thank you!

Simple question this time around! I’m searching for a quick, unique and especially delicious dinner in New York around The IFC Center. The theater is located just off the A train’s West 4th stop in the village just blocks away from Washington Square Park, near parts of Bleeker street. We’ll have less than an hour before the film starts and want to try something tasty and unique. Also, cheap-ish is a plus!

My roommates and I would love to throw a dinner party that involves "difficult food." We're thinking of warm-ups like corn on the cob and bobbing for apples, maybe moving onto very tall sandwiches and artichokes. Maybe for dessert, a king cake with way too many kings. Any more ideas for food that's particularly difficult (and amusing) to eat?

What's for dinner? I am a reasonably skilled home cook whose skills fall into that grey area between "velveeta tuna cassarole" and "foie gras terrine with fermented plum gastrique;" my culinary skill has never failed to impress dates raised on the former, but this weekend I'm supposed to cook dinner for an experienced executive chef and I'm terrified. Suggestions for dinner, dessert, and an accompanying cocktail requested. [more inside]
