DC/Northern Virginia experts: The other half and I have our first kid-free date night since, uh...too long. We're flexibile on dining options but I would like to find an awesome dessert place. We wouldn't mind driving someplace separate after dinner. The wrinkle is that this is for Sunday night (with a late start due to babysitting scheduling), and we'd like to avoid cupcakes. Hope us?
I'd like recommendations in Manhattan for an off the beaten path Italian restaurant that would likely still have tables available for a Valentine's Day dinner. We are in our mid 20s and price isn't an issue. Just something romantic and delicious. Many of the famous restaurants are all booked and that's fine with me - I'd prefer something a little less known. Please, any recommendations or personal experiences!
I have to go to Peoria, IL for a week starting February 6 to tend to the affairs of my mother, whose dementia is getting worse. I grew up there but I haven't been back for years, and when I did go back I stayed at Mom's. Now there is no room at Mom's because she's in assisted care. Where should I stay? [more inside]

We'll be spending spring break on the big island. Our group is two families - 4 adults, 4 teenaged kids. I've found a couple posts with lots of great suggestions of places to visit on the island but need suggestions of where to stay. We'd prefer to rent a house or condo and plan to stay in one place the entire week, though we'll take day trips. It needs to be easy walking distance from a beach for swimming and snorkeling and have at least a few places we can walk to for meals and exploring. We prefer small town charm to sprawling resort complexes. Suggestions, please!

If you arrive early for a table reservation, is there a chance you can get the table then, or do you necessarily have to wait? In other words, have you booked a particular table which, if free, could be given to you? Is showing up early by 10 or 20 minutes rude or preferred? [more inside]

Where should we eat in Paris? My fiancé and I are heading to Paris for our honeymoon in October. We like eating out and we're looking for awesome dining experiences. We tend to enjoy places that are delicious but unpretentious. We don't like "scenes". We really like, but certainly aren't limited to, gastropubs. [more inside]

My friend & housemate has a big birthday weekend planned (London, Thursday – Monday). There's an itinerary, filled with lots of amazing things (spa days, aquarium, shows, etc.), but in the event that some of these places aren't wheelchair accessible, we need some back up events planned. What are some great places to go/see/party in London that are definitely wheelchair accessible, relatively easy to get to, and would be able to host a party of 3-8 people at the last minute with minimal hassle all around? Thinwoman and I are in Albuquerque for the evening, and we'd like to get a nice meal. We've never been here before. Where should we eat? (It is our anniversary, so while I'm sure a green chili burger is super fine, we're hoping for something a little fancier. Unless green chili burgers are real fancy burgers. What do I know.)

Why are there so many Chinese restaurants in America that serve really cheap, low quality food, compared to, say, Thai restaurants, which seem to always have fresher ingredients? I've seen what really good, genuine Chinese food looks like from shows like Iron Chef, and I'd love to try some, but every restaurant I eat at always seems like they serve reheated food out of vats. How can you find the good Chinese restaurants in your town? I know they must be out there.
