dim sum & then some

A caveat: I prefer New Green Bo to all of these. However, with a group of 10 friends from out of town, do you recommend Jing Fong, Golden Unicorn or another one of Manhattan's giant dim sum emporiums? I'm looking for quality and range. I haven't been back in Jing Fong since it was remodeled but I assume it's still pretty nice.

Cheap and tasty dim sum in Los Angeles

Good--and cheap!--dim sum in Los Angeles? Looking for some good dim sum in L.A and north O.C. If the prices are low, that would be great. We want to eat a lot and spend a little. But I don't want to go to a really cheap, seedy place that doesn't trim the fat off the meats and uses too much oil. It doesn't have to be a place that has tons of options, because I can't bring myself to eat many of the delicacies like duck's feet, etc.
What are your best suggestions?

Good dim sum in London?

Please recommend a great restaurant for dim sum in central London (UK). I am familiar with Gerrard Street but have never had dim sum in London. I would be interested in recommendations in that area, or anywhere else in central London.

I want to take my mother, so quality is more important to me than price.

I have searched old questions, but can't find one where people actually name London restaurants in the dim sum context.

Thanks!

Eat dimsum and get a haircut in Toronto

What's a good place for dim sum and haircuts in Toronto? I will be visiting Toronto soon and want to have some good dim sum, with pushcarts and everything! I did check out this question, but didn't find any specific recommendations.

Also, can anyone recommend places in Toronto that know how to cut Asian (men's) hair?

OK, NYC MeFi'ers, let's hear it- where's your dim sum place? I've been faithful to Ping's for the last few years, but have dumpling wanderlust. I'm also curious about some good vegetarian dim sum.

Mystery Chinese dim sum sauce

What Chinese black sauce is this? I am in love with this dim sum sauce. It's a thick sauce browner than soy sauce, with a degree of paste-like consistency. It's sweet. They call it "seafood sauce" at Jin Fong here in NYC. It's hard to get dim sum places in NYC to give it to me, so I've been trying to find it in stores, trying to find out exactly what this sauce is. I bought a bottle of "char siu" which is not it, it's not oyster sayce or turnip cake sauce (too salty and and too smooth). Last time I was at Jin Fong I had a guy write it down for me in Chinese but I've misplaced the card, and anyway it may got by different names, I need more information from anyone who knows Chinese food or Happy Chef in Chicago.

I first had it at my beloved Happy Chef, where they automatically bring it to the table in a dish half filled with sambal and half with this black sauce (yum). Living in NYC now I get it at Jin Fong, however not without a fight. They give me an easier time now, but at first the cart women would go ask someone else to make sure for me that that is really what I want, or that it is ok to give it to me. Now I just get looks like I'm odd. At Happy Chef it was given automatically, at Jin Fong I have to struggle to get it. When I ask for it at Vegetarian Dim Sum House it's just futile.

It can't be anything too hard since it was a normal table sauce at Happy Chef. I don't want to buy bottle after bottle of black Chinese sauce, so help me, please.

Secret of the Lotus Seed Bun

After having a delightful dim sum experience this past weekend, my wife and I are trying to figure out how to make what I believe is called a steamed lotus seed bun. I've just spent awhile on the Google, trying to find recipes, but haven't had any luck. It's a white bun with a sweet, eggy center. Online and printed recipes are both fine.

Exploring Toronto

Going to Toronto next weekend for the first time, for three days and staying at the Canadiana Backpackers Hostel in downtown Toronto. We are three college students - can anyone recommend free/cheap things to do and explore? We'd prefer to avoid touristy spots, have a high interest in walking everywhere, exploring ethnic neighborhoods (where'd the best place for good, authentic dim sum in Toronto?)
