Ideological differences with husband and lack of emotional understanding

My husband of 1.5 years and I have been constantly fighting all the time. We have ideological differences in what we want from life and family, and the gender roles within the family. I feel stifled and feel like I have been making all sacrifices without getting any support or admiration. I am not his precious, if you know what I mean. Over time, I’ve started feeling like I am just a means to an end for my husband and he doesn’t really love or care for me as a person. Husband, on the other hand, feels like what is important for him (his list: his parents, baptism of our daughter, household responsibilities to be taken care of by wife and ability to state his position even if it is different from mine, which often times it is) are not important to me. I believe in solid nuclear family structure, equality of genders in household chores, saving up on behalf of both partners and investing wisely. I am not overtly religious and hope not to make my kids overtly religious, even though I don’t have any issue with baptism per se. I am 31 and husband is 33 years old, and we are both quite highly educated. [more inside]

Recommended Books on why langauges are so different.

What are some recommended books for the general reader on why languages are so different. How come languages such as Thai, Mandarin, Hebrew or the Indo-European langauges have such hugely different alphabets, let alone such vast differences in pronunciation? Given that human societies share many common characteristics, how come we ended up speaking so differently from each other. As I say, I'd prefer books aimed at the general reader, rather than, say, linguistics specialists.

Corporate Cultural

Tell me about cultural differences in your workplace. How do German, English, Chinese, Nigerian, or Tazmanian workers differ when attacking a problem, reporting status, dealing with subordinates or drinking on the job? Use this infographic as inspiration. Are certain cultures more effective than others on a shop floor versus a trading floor? I understand this question flirts with stereotypes and baked-in cultural bias. I get it, but that is what makes organizational dynamics so......dynamic. Pointing to a study that says Latin American's have a higher power distance than Germans is a great answer. Saying that the French aren't productive because they take all of August off is probably not as good. [more inside]

why so many different types of soap

What are the differences between hand soap, face soap, body wash, shampoo and dish soap (among others)? Is it pure marketing BS? If I (uh, theoretically) was out of face and hand soap, could I substitute, say, shampoo in a pinch? Yes, I understand that what with free will and all, I "could" use fruit punch or pretty much anything, but I'm talking about products that will actually function as passable replacements.
