How do naturally thin people eat?

Yet another Healthy Eating question! Naturally thin people (and people who've maintained significant weight loss for a long time): do you manage your meals/portions in such a way that you never are really concerned about how much you've eaten, OR, are you constantly compensating for eating too much or too calorically? food trauma?

Parent-filter: In our household we expect our toddler to eat the same food as we eat, or at least eat a certain number of bites before leaving the table. This is rewarded with dessert. For new or exotic things, we also expect them to 'try' the food before opting out. A close friend considers the above expectations to be 'forcing' a child to eat, and that it 'makes her sick to her stomach.' She instead suggests that the proper approach is to always have on hand foods that the child is known to like, and to provide these upon prompting. [more inside]

I don't like to move it (move it)!

I'm about 25 lbs heavier than I'd like to be, and need information and motivation to help me get started eating better and moving more. I've previously lost a considerable amount of weight (growing up I had weight issues, and topped out at around 210. I'm a 5'6" female, and currently weigh 165) but that was mainly through very controlled eating, and while I was a smoker. I've quit smoking and now live with my boyfriend, which has led to me loosening up on my eating. In some ways that has been good, but has also led to weight gain. [more inside]

We don't eat fat. If we do eat fat - ugh! Common?

Mr LyzzyBee and I have been on a very low saturated fat diet since March, for medical reasons. We are happy, healthy, fit, in the correct weight ranges and the doctors are happy with us. However, we were away over New Year's and, while I have really gone off stuff with fat in, Mr LB engaged fully with our hosts' food, having something we wouldn't normally have (a couple of biscuits, yesterday 2 buttered rolls with bacon and sausage) and now has an upset stomach (we do eat red meat, but only very lean / with fat trimmed). Is this common? He's scared he's got food poisoning, I think it's the fat. [more inside]

Help a foodie survive a bland diet!

Bland Diet -- tips and recipes for surviving. My sweetie has severe acid reflux -- about as bad as acid reflux can get. So he has to stick to a bland diet for the foreseeable future. This is particularly hard on him because he is a real foodie and enjoys eating out. The doctor did not give him really specific instructions for what or what not to eat. Somethings are obvious -- no citrus, no alcohol, no chocolate. But some things are less obvious -- since it's meant to be low fat is butter okay? [more inside]

Are there any acid-free diet sodas?

I just learned that I have 2 cavities and I am guessing it's because I switched to drinking a lot of diet soda since my last dentist visit. Are there any diet sodas that are not acidic? (both caffeinated and uncaffeinated). If all diet sodas are acidic then is it possible to make kool-aid with a fake sugar and then carbonate it using a carbonator? How would that taste? Would that be ok for my teeth?

full body cleanse detox

I have two weeks off for christmas and I would like to use that time to do a very effective liver, colon, kidney cleanse. Can someone please give me a detailed plan including which order to do the cleanses; I've heard to do kidneys before liver so you can properly flush. I'm interested in what my meals should look like (juice fast, master cleanse, raw foods) as well as what supplements are helpful to expel crap from my guts. My goal is not weightloss. I tend to breakout in rashes after meals and I plan to slowly reintroduce foods after the cleanse to gauge what foods I have negative reactions to. It might be relevant to mention that I eat fish and eggs and cheese but no other animal products. Thanks for all your help.
