Feeding My Cats Homemade Raw Meat Diet - Good Idea?

I want to make my own homemade, raw meat (chicken and rabbit) cat food. My girlfriend thinks it's a bad idea. Almost everything I can find on the interwebs suggest that feeding a cat a BARF (biologically appropriate raw food) diet is healthy for the cat. This wiki suggests that there is no scientific evidence pointing to a clear resolution - in the references section there are some vets arguing one way or the other, but nothing concrete. Has anyone been there, done that, or have any other advice? [more inside]

Help a reasonably-fit vegetarian mefite turn into an extremely-fit meat-eating mefite!

I've been a vegetarian all my life, but caught the fitness bug last year. I lost around 80lbs in about a year by jogging, working out at the gym and following a strict diet. Although I feel that my vegetarian diet is supplementing me well, I'd like to try non-vegetarian food just to see if I'm missing out on anything. More inside! [more inside]

Obesity vs. income?

Is obesity actually rare among high-income people compared to low-income people? Or is this a stereotype? What time should I eat breakfast?

"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." "Breakfast improves your metabolism." "Breakfast makes you work, think and feel better." Okay, fine, you've convinced me to eat breakfast. But what time, smart guy? If I wake up at 6:00 AM and eat my first meal at 2:00 PM, that's still technically breakfast, but I'm pretty sure that's not what people are talking about. So, for optimal health benefits, how long after waking up should I eat?

22 year old vegetarian convert needs help

I’ve been pondering becoming a vegetarian for quite sometime. This is more or less for ethical reasons but I suppose converting may also have an added health benefit. I’m in college and my diet is horrible. At 6 foot 180 pounds I’m not over weight, but I’m most certainly not very healthy with this type of diet. My current diet consists of mostly processed foods like hotdogs, chicken patties with fast food thrown into the mix 1-2 times a week. I’m ready for a change though and I’m looking for suggestions.
