I recently got my old negatives and prints digitized, including many that were on APS film. APS film has time stamps embedded in it that are typically printed on the back, but they weren't saved in the digital version (checked the EXIF tags too). Is there any way to get the time stamps from the negatives without having to get reprints of every photo?

Yes, it's true, there are still Luddites out here using 35mm film. The local concern which still develops films charges a queen's ransom to do so. Can anyone recommend a mail-in film developing lab which does good quality work, is reliable and is at least somewhat reasonable as far as price? (Costco in this area has stopped taking film...sigh).
(can't think of any snowflakes to add).

I am planning a website for a not for profit. We will be linking high school and college students from all over the US. At most we will have 10,000 connections on the site. How much will this cost to build and maintain?

I'm interested in dishwashing practices in the developing world. If you were one of roughly the half of the people in the world
without running water in your home, how might you wash your dishes? What kind of set up would you have? Are sinks common even if you collect water from a public well or
water truck? Or would you have a washbasin/plastic tub? On a countertop, table, or floor? Cloth or tarp outside? Would you use non-potable water to do the washing up? Save the graywater for next time or for other cleaning tasks?

Help a non-developer get up to speed on creating internal business applications, forms and reports, that interface with an existing small to mid sized business ERP system. I got it sort of working with BizTalk and Sharepoint. I have no formal training, what's the right way to do things? Should I program the logic in the application, the database or some sort of middleware program?

I just got a diana f+ camera. I have shoten? shot, 3 rolls of film and none of them have turned out well. All of the images are extremely blurry. We have tried out the fish eye, the telephoto and the wide angle lenses as well as the color gels and the long exposures. So far only the long exposures seem to be turning out at all. None of the other pics display the attributes of the accessories used. There are no color changes or changes in the clarity. SO my question is...what am I doing wrong?

Ok, here's a slightly odd one. Prompted by the recent FPP in the blue about the ancient photography lab, I got to thinking about the lighting in the basement "wet lab". This led to the question: if film doesn't react to red light, why are we able to take pictures of red things?

I'm looking for a mail-order photo developing service that will take 120 film. I love the concept of Snapfish, but they only take 35mm! Is there a decent service out there that does medium-format?

StupidQuestionFilter: I have a disposable camera, I would like to open the camera up and scan the negatives into a computer. Is that possible, or is some processing necessary before the negatives are physically reminiscent of the pictures you took... I know nothing about cameras. Should I just spend 5 dollars to get them developed elsewhere or is the DIY route possible?

I've started into my first serious foray into amateur photography. The only fully-manual camera I could get my hands on for free is 35mm, so I'm now confronted with a problem that I haven't really ever dealt with before: where to get it developed. I want digital scans of most of my photos, for easy storage and Flickring, and there are a number of corollary requirements as well.

I'm going to a party tonight, where they're collecting books to donate to a library in Western Samoa. I have two questions: which books would you consider accesible and very helpful to readers in such a community? And second -- are there any NGOs that work on this problem, and do this sort of thing on a regular basis?

I'll be in a developing country this summer, and most likely wont have access to any sort of gym with weights. (i do a lot of cardio and lift too) I've looked into travel weights andI've looked around, but all I have been able to find so far are $50 Aquabells water-fillable weights, which have a max of 16 pounds each. How can I keep my strength up this summer, while not having ways to lift? I've always done cardio and lifting with machines, so i know I can work out without them, i'm just not entirely sure how. Thanks!

Has anyone used Costco's film lab to print black and white? I develop my own b&w film but don't have a darkroom. Was thinking of getting a scanner and, after scanning and editing the negs, having the prints done at Costco.
