So, I desperately wanted these shoes... ...but I waited for them to go on sale and now they're sold out in my size. None available on Ebay either. Help me find a similar pair, metafilter geniuses! This seems to be a hard style to find. I've looked around the internet a lot but my searches have been fruitless. Thank you!
Is waiting for someone to contact you first giving them too much power? Is contacting them first desperate? Am I overthinking what is already a trainwreck (most likely)? Help me out, romantically-experienced MeFites! [more inside]
I relocated to NYC and am looking for a job outside of my typical role. I think I'm going about it the wrong way - can you suggest good strategies for finding an interesting (and not necessarily tremendously lucrative) job or gigs in an unfamiliar city? [more inside]
I'm looking for some websites for the beginner. I'm fine with the animation part. That is (relatively) easy. But I'm pretty much totally lost on the Action script part of it, and the Adobe tutorials are a little complicated for my idiot self. I'm just a little ol' designer and all this talk of code and scripts and computer lingo is freaking me out. I'll take anything. Any ideas. Any help. Anything. Thank you.
I'm very close to walking out on both of my shitty jobs. What the hell can, and should I do with myself? [more inside]

This week, apparantly, the financial movers and shakers in the US have "toughened up" their demand for China to let their currency float with respect to the US dollar, saying, among other things, “Failure to move on the renminbi means China is also not doing its fair share in reducing global payments imbalance" If their fixed exchange rate is the reason for China's enormous growth, what reason would they have to oblige?
