I would like to overlay my Google Calendar on my desktop wallpaper in Vista. I'd like it to be translucent so that I can still see my wallpaper, but visible enough that it is easy to read. Is there a (preferably free) program that will let me do this? [more inside]

I'm looking for recommendations for a wallpaper changer or desktop photo viewer that's compatible with Vista. It must be able to change photos at least every 10 seconds or so, resize large photos properly, work with locally stored images, and be able to fill the screen. [more inside]

Where can I find high-quality desktop wallpaper-suitable images of modern art? I'm mostly thinking of work from the last decade, but even the last 50 years would be good. Also: free would be nice.

Windows 2000/XP has three options for setting desktop wallpaper: Center, Tile, and Stretch. Unfortunately, these are all kinda dumb. If I want to set a photo from my digital camera as my wallpaper, I'm stuck with a bad fit (Center), repeating images (Tile), or an incorrect aspect ratio (Stretch). Is there any third-party utility that will intelligently resize my desktop wallpaper? [more inside]

Win2K - I had a risque pictue set as my desktop background. My in-laws are coming to stay for a week, and my machine is in the guest room. Since I already don't rate very highly with then, I swapped the background image to something very tame. However, during the startup process, the original image appears for a couple of seconds before being replaced by the new. Why does this happen, and how can I fix it?
