I've been trying to find a designer (or several) for my web application consulting company to work with on a regular basis. To find people, I want to run a sort of design contest/job posting. Where (other than the obvious job boards) should I promote this contest? Colleges? Specialist Forums? Mailing Lists? Flyers? Where do these people hang out? [more inside]

I'm starting up a business that revolves around my artistic and digital editing skills, but I'm totally clueless about web design and programming. I want something that looks fairly professional but in that kind of haphazard, artsy way. A lot of artists' online portfolios have a lot of white space and are very stripped down, almost with this kind of collage look. That's what I'm going for. How do I find a designer? I can't spend more than a few hundred bucks because I'm still a poor student, but I want somebody talented who knows what they're doing.

Tomorrow I'm giving a lecture about color -- specifically, I'm talking to designers about how to create color palettes. The talk is more concerned with aesthetics (i.e. what color combinations are striking) than tools (i.e. how to pick colors in Photoshop). But there will be some tools talk. Now that I'm a Print Designer for the next few days, what sites should I go to for inspiration when I get stuck? As a web designer I would go to K10K or Design is Kinky, or check out the newest sites at MoLuv. I am looking for things like online mags in PDF or Flash, people's print portfolios, or just anything else that is similar to print in terms of layout or design.
