Really, really, really good non-fiction books

Few books have given me as much sheer joy as Bringhurst's "The Elements of Typographic Style". Tufte's "Visual Explanations" is also up there in terms of content and presentation. What other exceedingly well researched, written and designed non-fiction books would you recommend for somebody interested in Design, Architecture, Programming, Information Visualization, Maps, Math, Music and Science? Video Information Design Examples

I am looking for short videos | animations that show good information design. They could be scientific, engineering, educational or even artistic, as long as they provide clear demonstrations and explanations about dynamic processes, and do so with some graphic / 3d / animation flair. [more inside]

Where could a young, devilishly handsome architect find free 3d models of office and residential buildings to download, preferably in 3ds or DXF format? [more inside]

Architects: do you use particular geometric proportion systems?

To all the architects and designers in here, re: Proportions; do you use the geometric proportion systems we were taught in school (Golden Mean, Harmonic Mean, etc.), or do you just use eyeball based intuitive proportions?
I have been recently developing a house using a Modulor-ish system (based on 320cm) and wonder what the rest of you people use.

Web Fonts

What are your favorite fonts when designing for the web and why?
Oh, and what does the word "optical" mean when it's part of the name of a font?

Examples of good web design?

As a budding web designer, what are good sites to steal ideas from? Hopefully ones that update frequently and cover a wide range of style / technologies, though minimalism/CSS is where I'm at right now.
