What are the most innovatively designed books currently in print? Do you know of one that has a particularly interesting layout, perhaps using typography, photos, drawings, or layout in an unusual way? If so, what makes it so great? I am interested in learning about some fun new examples of design.

I've been inspired by fellow mefite

I want to put together some of my photos for a site but don't know where to begin. I'm not confident with my design skills, and I wonder if I have any photos that are really good enough. I usually just post photos/snapshots on flickr for friends but I have had people contact me wanting to use my photos- so maybe they aren't so bad...Any suggestions for how to start? Anyone out there want to give me a (paid) hand putting a page together? You can see some of the photos at my flickr site(lots of snapshots here) or at
JPG.
I could put a few hours a day into a project. Right now I am oozing lack of confidence....

Photography Portfolio Filter: I'm finally hanging out my shingle *officially* to do portrait shoots and show my more *artistic* work beyond the few small galleries I've already been in. To whit, I'm putting together two portfolio books. One for prospective portrait clients and another for gallery work. My question is one of formatting the pictures within the portfolio book. In regards to design and press printing. Towards the bottom of this
Paper Specs article it touches on an overprint varnishing technique called "dot-on-dot varnishing."
Is anyone familiar with this technique and care to elaborate on how it is accomplished and the effect it has on the final piece?

As a pretty prolific photographer and new blogger, I want to make my photos an important part of my Typepad basic blog. I'm looking for some kind of service that will let me upload my photos and then create some kind of (ideal) RSS feed or (less ideal) HTML code that I can put on my blog to show the 20 most recent photos or so. I need control over the feed or code to make the thumbnails or images the size I want to fit in the design. I've tried flickr and I'm less than impressed by the inability to change the size of the photos in the feed. I don't want to use a flickr badge - I want the user to see all the photos as they read my blog entries. I'd also like to prevent having large amounts of added "ads" on top of my photos advertising the service I'm using to provide the photos.
