I rented a single-family house in MA with 2 roommates. We have 2 toddlers. This house isn't deleaded, and it needs to be, and landlady is very unhappy about the expense. We offered to vacate the lease, but my now crazy landlady wants to keep the security deposit I put down. Help?

I am taking a short (weekend) let on a holiday property just outside of London, UK. It's a big house with lots of bedrooms that is used for weddings, hen parties and corporate team-building as well as for family holidays. In addition to 100% payment in full in advance (which I expected), the people letting the property are demanding £1l as a damage deposit one month before I arrive at the property. Their T&Cs state that they will give this back to me one month after I leave the property.

I live in the state of pennsylvania in montgomery county.I rented apartment from craigslist on a verbal monthly lease with $650 security deposit. After 8 months I gave the landlord moving out notice of 30 days to find a new tenant. its been almost 11 months and she has not given me $300 of the initial security deposit back.
I cleaned the house and she had no issues.
Is there any way i can get the money back. I have tried to contact the person multiple times through email and phone but no reply.

Security Deposit & Home Improve Filter: We moved into a brand new house and when we moved out, there were some damages on the floor. Turns out these “engineered” hardwood floor that requires a removal of an entire area for a few inches of damage.
1) Is this actually required to fix engineered hardwood floors?
2) Is this legal to charge us for an entire section of undamaged area for inches of damage?

I'm renting an apartment in Denver, CO, and the property manager is asking I pay a deposit in the form of a money order mailed to his address or delivered to the onsite manager to hold the apartment. I've checked the property out with the onsite manager, and it looks great. Worryingly, the application says that if offered the apartment and I refuse to sign the lease, the deposit will be kept. Taking over the lease for one roommate in a four person household. I was originally told that I needed to pay first and last month's rent to move in: first month to the landlord and last month's to John, the roommate moving out. On moving day I was told that it was actually first and security. I would make the check for security out to John and then the landlord would give me back John's security deposit when I moved out. Confused and exhausted, I wrote a check.
