My dentist just told me I need an immediate implant (he also discussed bridge and orthodontic retainer options with me, but I am told the tooth needs to be extracted
pronto.) Should I be gathering second opinions/additional price quotes, or should I continue treating this as Urgent?

You are not my dentist, but did my dentist screw up and/or talk me into an unnecessary procedure, or is this just an unavoidable risk of a Laser Gingivectomy?

My dentist put a temp crown on a broken tooth today, then sent me to the front desk to set a followup. I was expecting this to be covered, at least partly, by my insurance, but they told me I had reached the limit and asked for $600. Is this right? Should they have told me I'd be paying out of pocket before starting treatment?

How do you find a dentist who is good with very anxious patients? Is it appropriate to ask, when making the appointment, if he’s willing to prescribe a sedative and/or use gas? I hear (often on askme) that people have marvelous, caring dentists who are willing to do whatever is necessary to make them comfortable, but where do you find one? I’ve got this list of dentists covered by my insurance, I need one that can fill my cavities without leaving me in hysterics, and I don’t know how to go about discovering who that will be.

I'm getting all four of my impacted wisdom teeth out tomorrow. In a study done in 2007, one dose of pre-op antibiotics has been shown to lower infection rates by 50%, and might do more good than several days of antibiotics post-op. My oral surgeon's office apparently does not follow that practice. Is there any danger in me taking one of the doses of amoxicillin that has already been prescribed for this procedure the night before?

Was my dental hygienist incompetent? I had a recent dental cleaning that just didn't seem right to me, and I would like some insight as to whether I am off-base in my suspicions or not.

Asking for my mother. Anyone had any experience with dental implants in Cincinnati? Name names, please. Prospective patient lives in Oakley but will travel anywhere in the area for a caring, nonjudgmental dentist. Oh, she wants a dentist with a private exam room, not an open cubicle-type environment. Many thanks.

I went to see a new dentist recently for a somewhat minor repair to a crown. He gave me three shots of Novocaine, one of them in a nontypical spot in my mouth. Two months later I have reduced sensation in my tongue on that side. I think the dentist damaged my nerves in my tongue. It feels kind of numb to this day. What should I do?

Can someone recommend a good dentist in White Plains or somewhere in Westchester county, New York? I prefer a female dentist who graduated from a good school. It's also important that she's caring, reassuring, and comfortable with someone who's 32 but behaves like a kid. Thanks!

I was referred to an endodontist, and while I was filling out forms in the antechamber there this morning prior to my appointment, preparing to go in for a root canal, the office was raided by a dozen or so federal police with a search warrant. I don't plan to return. Is it incumbent upon me to reveal this information on yelp, etc?

I'm scared to death of going to the dentist. I have a lot of problems with my teeth and gums, mostly as a result of avoiding appointments for the last few years. I am ready to face the music and make an appointment now to get my teeth fixed, but I'd like recommendations for a gentle, non-judgmental (and not too expensive?) dentist in the Denver metro area.

Does anyone know of any Chicago dentists that are part of the Delta Dental network and accept Care Credit?
I have not been to the dentist in a long time. My teeth have been hurting for a week and I know I need to see a dentist (probably have an abcessed tooth). I have medical insurance but no dental. My fiancee an I are in the process of buying a condo; this couldn't have come at a worse time (still, my fault, i know).
