This could be a Dell tech support question, but I think it may actually be
easier to get answered here. I have a
Dell E-Flat Panel Stand and I'm trying to disconnect the riser from the base of the stand. The
diagram is no help; it only shows how to put them together (see diagram 1). I've had no luck with Google or the Dell support site. I don't see any release button/unlocking switch. Help!

Fraking-Touchpad filter: My Dell Inspiron Touchpad completely ceased to work at all last night. Me and the Dell tech guy ran some diagnostics, and ascertained that it is NOT a hardware problem, it is an OS problem (I have Windows 7). He says my only option (aside from getting a external mouse and using that instead) is to wipe the whole OS and start over. Really?

Follow up to previous question....4yo Dell Inspiron laptop suddenly giving me the old "Plugged in but not charging" routine. Froze the battery for a day but no luck. So I bought a nice new one from Amazon that charged right up and worked for a week. No this one is giving me the same message. Any ideas? Or a place to turn to troubleshoot things? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello. I have a 4yo Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop and about a 10 days ago it stopped charging. It said, "0% available, plugged in but not charging". Took the battery out and put it back in a couple of times and it went back to normal, charged up fine. It happened 2 other times but it went back to charging. However, now it seems to be stuck in the - "plugged in but not charging mode". Any ideas? Thanks

I have an Ubuntu server. It's a Dell PowerEdge with a PERC 6 RAID controller. I'm trying to get it to boot to a different drive, and grub doesn't seem to be cooperating - it appears to attempt to boot to the correct volume and partition and then bonks out when mounting /proc - what gives?

My new work laptop is a Dell Latitude E6400. It doesn't come with much documentation (nor does Dell's website offer much) so I've been trying to figure out all of the hardware features on my own. When I removed the battery I noticed what looks like a MicroSD card slot. Is it? Can I use it for ReadyBoost?

I'm replacing an EIDE drive in my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with a PATA one, thought that would be an easy swap.
But, of course, I'm here, so it wasn't.
The laptop now isn't seeing my new HDD, so I'm guessing I need to update something in the BIOS (ver. A07, 6/27/2005)?
The new drive is a Western Dig Scorio Blue, if that makes any difference.
Little help?

I have a Dell laptop. Oftentimes, while "mousing around" using the touchpad, it will unintentionally highlight things. This is a behavior that I never, ever want. Also, sometimes it will unintentionally "grab on to things," like graphics on a webpage, and try to drag them around. I do not ever want to highlight or grab things using the touchpad. This "feature" messes me up CONSTANTLY. My last Dell laptop did the same thing. Is there any way to turn this "feature" off permanently?

I love Vista, hate the way it handles flash drives. Obi-Wan, Help Me!
I use a Vista laptop and an XP desktop for work. When I copy anything from the XP machine on my flash drive and use it on my Vista Laptop, it won't let me delete or re-save it after editing, saying the file is Read-Only.
Even if I copy something to it from the Vista machine it always asks to confirm things. I know UAC is a pain in the neck but is there anyway around it's behaviour on flashdrives?

The PageUp and PageDown keys on my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop have started acting weird. Sometimes they act correctly (rarely), sometimes they take me directly to the top or the bottom of the current page (now and then), and sometimes they don't work at all (often). I'm seeing this mostly in Firefox, haven't check other apps yet.
This started about a week ago, a few reboots and cold starts since it first occurred...not seeing any improvement or further degradation.
Do you know why this is happening, how I can diagnose the issue, and/or how it can be fixed?
I use those keys often and this is really hampering my use of my laptop.

Something odd is happening on my internet connection at home. I have two machines both of which connect to the intenet via a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (or Comcast variant on it) and a Comcast cable connection. Both of them do not display the Dell homepage properly. After viewing source I determined that they couldn’t find the supporting files at the subdomain i.dell.com (it’s possible other subdomains are missing as well, but that is the one causing the most dramatic effect). Viewing the site from another internet connection it appears fine. Is something up with the router, or with Comcast? Looking for steps to determine what is going on and (hopefully) rectify it.
