Through work, I have struck up a correspondence with an extraordinary translator and writer located in Austin, TX. Advancing age, declining health, and (from what I have gleaned) lack of local family members have conspired to put him in a nursing home. He's mentioned a craving for better food -- specifically for French canapés. Is there any French bistro or gourmet market in Austin where I could arrange for some beautifully prepared treats to be delivered to him?
I live in the Bay Area and often find myself wanting things, especially delicious location-specific foods, from stores in other cities that don't offer e-commerce and/or won't ship to me. (Example, example, example.) I want to pay someone --companies, individuals, I don't care-- to buy the things, pack them up, and ship them to me. This seems like it'd be a fairly common need/want, so someone must have set up a business offering it, right..?
A close relative recently had a double mastectomy and is awaiting breast reconstruction surgery. She is still in recovery phase, and is surrounded by her loving and supportive family. Because of work issues I'm unable to visit for a while. I've sent flowers, and made phone calls, but I would like to get something delivered to her either brighten her day or make this time easier or any more comfortable for her and her family. I have a client that has a scooter food delivery service. What I need to do is build menus for each of the restaurants, have the user be able to add items to a cart and then get a total. The actual transaction will occur at the customers home upon delivery so there's no need to deal with payments online. I'd like to use something open source and I've been looking at X-cart but I'd like to consider as many options as possible. WP/WooCommerce doesn't work because it requires a payment gateway and real time transaction (as far as I can tell) I'd love some recommendations. Thanks.
I spend a bit too much time in the office, and regularly have dinner delivered there (paid for by the company, thankfully!) but am putting on too much pudge from the constant pizzas. Could anyone recommend healthy deliveries or takeaway that will service the W1 area? Thanks!
My two-year-old is insistent that we should give his aunt (my sister) an ice cream cake for her birthday on Sunday. Does one of Seattle's many specialty ice cream shops deliver to the Atlantic/Pratt Park area near downtown? I almost found success with Gelatiamo, but they only deliver to businesses. Her birthday is Sunday, but delivery tomorrow or Saturday would be fine, too, of course.
I'm looking for a Wash & Fold and (very ideally) pickup/delivery service in Manhattan (UES). However, I'm concerned about one thing in particular: handling of delicates, specifically synthetics and elastics. [more inside]
What are your favorite websites for ordering food to be delivered from restaurants? I'm a devotee of Seamless, but I know there are a lot of competitors out there, including sites which only serve specific local areas. So I'm interested in both sites with "national" and local scopes, anywhere in the U.S. I'm not interested in individual restaurant websites with their own in-house ordering systems — only looking for sites which feature multiple restaurants. Thanks.
I need to find a service (in Chicago) that will pick up my dirty laundry and bring it back clean on a weekly basis. [more inside]
For work reasons, I'm spending this week far from home, which means I'm going to miss my girlfriend's birthday tomorrow. Boo! We're going to make up for it when I get home, but I still want to mark the occasion by having something delivered to her at work. The obvious choice is flowers, of course. But can you suggest something else romantic and sweet that would be less obvious? Something I can arrange remotely and have delivered to an office in Herndon, Va. tomorrow?
Are there any online retailers of snack foods (cookies, candy, pretzels) that will deliver to Norway? I don't understand customs regulations very well, but I think these may have to be stores actually in Norway. I would be paying with a US credit card and am willing to muddle about the site with Google translate and squinting at the pictures.
In a few month's time, I will be recovering from a c-section whilst wrangling a newborn and a toddler. We don't have family here in Sydney so Mr Jubey and I will be coping alone. I'll be freezing meals in advance to help there but our freezer is only small so I'm looking for a meal delivery service for 4 weeks or so til I recover. Endless takeaway doesn't appeal, nor is it healthy long term. I know of Lite & Easy but that's geared towards weight loss and while (hopefully) breast feeding I will need more calories. Can you recommend a good meal delivery service? No special dietary requirements.
I bought a new couch. It got delivered yesterday. The couch is damaged (though it's very minor). I'm going to call "the guy" today and "work something out." Please help me choose the best option. [more inside]
My wife and I have our hospital bags packed, ready to take with us when we're heading to the hospital to have the baby. We've got the various odds and ends like a change of clothes, toiletries, chapstick, devices & chargers, camera, etc. If you've done this before, what do you wish you'd brought (or what did you make sure you brought the second time)?

I have a friend in Seattle who's dealing with moving, school, work, and a relative in hospice. Not much time to take care of meals. Since I'm not in Seattle, I'd like to help by getting some food delivered. Are there any places in Seattle that will deliver prepared vegan meals? I'm thinking a few days to a week worth of meals, not just delivery from a vegan restaurant.

I would like to surprise a friend in Washington, D.C. for his birthday with a special treat; however, it's a donut made in a mom-and-pop store here in Dallas, and I won't be flying up there anytime soon. Can you help me figure out a hack for this? [more inside]

I'm trying to figure out the healthiest carryout/delivery meals I can get for under $25. The catch is that I don't like salads very much, and prefer my vegetables to be chopped finely/covered in sauce/combined with other things. (See my username) I'm in Boston, but I'm also open to general suggestions of what sort of restaurants/items are more likely to be healthy options. [more inside]

Here we go again: This is now multiple times that the wonderful USPS has, given a package sent to me through their service, made the tracking unavailable until after the date they supposedly delivered and then claimed that it's been delivered when I've had no sign of it. Where do I actually find out what the handling policies of the USPS are supposed to be, and who can I complain to that's higher than my local branch? [more inside]

I'm looking for suggestions for a gift to be delivered to my friend in New York City. I'm out of the loop: what neat thing do all the cool kids in NY want these days? For example, I think Kiehl's was all the rage a couple of years ago, and Philosophy body washes before that. She is 30, single, lives in Brooklyn, enjoys good food and drink, likes fun personal care products, is very busy at work, is very hip, elegant and quite intelligent. I know she reads things like DailyCandy and Flavorpill (I had a look there but nothing caught my eye). [more inside]
