Only, like, my fifth baking question

Every year, I bake about a billion cookies. Okay, more like two or three thousand, but it feels like a billion. I then deliver and ship them all over the world, to friends and family. Every year, I bake the same 6 cookie types, plus 2 additional rotating types that, if they're good enough, can be added to the repertoire for the following year. I need suggestions for this year's two new types. [more inside]

Looking for a bookmark solution for firefox with yosemite

I used to enjoy delicious when they had a very user friendly sidebar that would allow me to access my bookmarks and tags and let me open all the bookmarks in the tags at once. Seems those days are gone and I am looking for another option. Pinboard's only plug in for firefox seem to be one that only allows one to add a bookmark or tag a link. can I get a little hive love for some known options to my search for a solution? [more inside]

What are some delicious, easy-to-prepare savoury breakfast foods?

I have about 15-20 minutes to eat breakfast every morning, and when I walk into the kitchen I often have no idea what to eat. This is because I'm really sensitive to sugary things in the morning and the thought of eating cereal / toast with jam or pb or honey / pancakes / crumpets / pikelets / muffins / whatever makes me queasy. So I really crave savoury things! But I don't know many savoury breakfast foods, and often I don't have enough time to make them e.g. bacon and eggs. And there are only so many times a week I can eat toast without wanting to cease existing. If you have any great recipes for savoury breakfast foods that can be prepared and eaten quickly, or that can be prepared the night before and then be thrown together quickly, I'd love to hear them! Bonus points for hot foods. Caveat: I don't like eggs just by themselves. [more inside]

Dreaming of Ottolenghi and Amada; stuck on frozen gyoza

I love cooking, but it's been a while since I've cooked on a regular basis (besides throwing together ingredients for salads and pastas) and even longer since I put together a proper meal with courses. I'm a pretty decent cook (and I have a list of favorite blogs, like Smitten Kitchen and 101 Cookbooks) but nothing's clicking, and I want recipes that are complicated and fun and delicious for a change of pace! And so I turn to you, AskMetafilter: help me find awesome, vegetarian, delicious, adventurous dishes to usher in 2014. [more inside]

Lentil Soup Mystery

Many years ago I had a fabulous lentil soup in a very nice Greek restaurant (in Greece) whose owners/chefs were Cretan, and which used many ingredients from Crete (which may or may not be pertinent to my question). This soup was very, very dark, like mahogany colored, rich but not thick, and fairly "oily" (which sounds bad, but it was heavenly), and it was soooo good. Now, all lentil soup is good, really. Mine is quite marvelous, but I've been remembering this soup for so long, and have never figured out how it acquired that color, or what ingredient(s) made it so different and special. Any ideas? Fizzy yoghurty stuff! Yay!

I love Kefir. Not only is it delicious, I generally feel better when I am drinking it. My stomach problems are generally better when I am drinking it regularly. I have been a big fan and drinker of the Liberte Kefir, but I would really like to try making my own because the store bought stuff is pricey. TELL ME ALL YOU KNOW ABOUT KEFIR! [more inside]

Is there any way to read .atom files?

Google Takeout allows one to export a blog from within Blogger, in the form of a .atom file. Opening the file in a web browser produces the message "This is an Atom formatted XML site feed. It is intended to be viewed in a Newsreader or syndicated to another site. Please visit Blogger Help for more info" My goal is to convert this file to a standard html bookmarks file, but I can't find any apps that can parse it so I can export it as html. Thanks for any suggestions. [more inside]
