Beyond UFYH?

I'm looking for blogs about homekeeping (cleaning, organizing, keeping up on housework, design/decorating, and that sort of thing with maybe some cooking or gardening thrown in). I like Unfuck Your Habitat and I used to read Apartment Therapy before moving into my own house. Are there any other blogs out there that offer inspiration/motivation to keep up with housework and/or design ideas? I'm very DIY and craft-oriented, and appreciate frugal living ideas, too, so blogs that incorporate those things are good, too.

Save my home from the 1980s!

I recently moved to (West) London from overseas and have to do some reasonably major renovation work on a 2-bed flat. This will include re-doing the floors, removing the dreaded "woodchip" wallpaper and therefore possibly re-plastering, replacing or fixing Artex-ed ceilings and possibly some dated/inefficient windows, and re-doing a kitchen. I am not sure what type of professional to call to get an overall plan and estimates or where to look for such professionals. [more inside]

Want to jazz up my cube with fabric panels, but clueless about fabric

I want to spice up a couple of the panels of my work cubicle, tastefully. I have something like this in mind but I'm looking at different fabrics online and realizing I have no idea what type of fabric to go with (there's printed cotton, faux silk, linen, wovens) or even what category (sold for quilting, apparel, interior decorating purposes etc.). Does anyone know what I should go with? I'm happy to go to a physical store but I want to make sure I know what I'm even looking for in terms of look and feel. I don't necessarily need/want advice about pattern, just type of fabric. Thanks!

Frameless LP jacket wall hanging?

I want to hang some LP covers on a wall, and remember years ago seeing a cheap little kit that was something like four pieces of clear plastic for the corners, connected by an elastic string X-shape in the back that could hang on a nail. Opinions about a backsplash, please?

Putting in a kitchen backsplash and want your opinion. Doing a stainless steel backsplash behind stainless steel oven/range and white subway tile the rest of the kitchen. Grout is a grey which will work for the SS tile and also for the white subway tile. However, the white subway is 3x6" and the SS tile is sold as 1x2" but isn't really quite 1x2. Our handyguy says it will look bad to have the groutlines not even with each other due to height difference of tiles (SS vs white) but the guy at the upscale tilestore says not an issue. We aren't sure if it will or not. [more inside]

Cheap but Classy party ideas?

My boyfriend is turning 29, and so we're throwing a party and inviting lots of people. We've splurged a bit on food - going to have an italian place cater family-style food - but are hoping to save money in every other respect. Luckily, our condo building has a beautiful gathering room that we're going to use. We're purchased a bunch of wine from Trader Joe's and are hoping to not serve it in plastic party cups, but don't want to buy a huge supply of wine glasses. Are there any creative tricks or decorating ideas that will make us feel classy but won't break our small bank?
