Need a non-slip solution for a DDR dance pad

The pad is the thicker foam-core type (so, still a soft pad, but not super thin) with a kind of suede-y rubber-y mat. It slides pretty bad over our short carpet! Any ideas? [more inside]

Fixing a DDR pad: irritating flex cable edition.

It looks thusly. My issue is that, despite the fact that it was originally barely taped down at all, I am unable to successfully, reliably reattach it using the same method. ("it" in this case being the printed black strips on the left). I am reasonably sure that lack-of-contact is my problem, because if I physically hold the cable to the board, it will reliably work when I push a button. Best I can do is that sometimes, after putting it all back together for the Nth time, one button will work. Maybe other buttons on its side will work, maybe not. Maybe it'll work for a few presses and then quit. The cable looks fine, the board contacts look fine, no amount of scotch tape is helping me out here. How do I affix these suckers but good?

Help me decide on a DDR metal dance pad

(No I can't build my own pad at this time, graduate school). I've found two dealers that sells hard / metal DDR pads from Poland: maty-taneczne.pl and rd.sokolka.com. They seem to be the only / one of the few reputable dealers out there that sell DDR pads for home use that aren't generally crap. Can you post here with reviews of their merchandise if you've purchased from them? Otherwise alternate dealers / solutions are welcome (if some other outfit can make a good DDR hard pad - in the US - I'll gladly buy it). [more inside]

Where can I find a complete song list for "In the Groove 2"?

Where can I find a complete song list for "In the Groove 2"? DDR is good exercise. I'd like to make a workout playlist for use in my local arcade. I can find lot's of lists for the New songs for In the Groove 2, but I can't find the Old songs that are stored on the machine. For instance it has some but not all of the songs from DDR 3rd mix. DDR solution for the new Wii that lacks Gamecube ports?

Our Wii kicked the bucket and my girlfriend brought home a replacement and was dismayed to discover that this new model no longer had Gamecube controller ports which means no more DDR, at least not with the Gamecube-controller versions of the dance pads we have. How to remedy? [more inside]

Are there any examples of East German wifes informing on their husbands for Stasi?

In a critique of Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) Slavoj Žižek asserts that "in all known cases of a married couple where a spouse betrayed a partner, it was always a man who became an informant." Famously, Ulrich Mühe, star of Das Leben der Anderen, asserted that his ex-wife spied on him for Stasi, though both the ex-wife and her supposed Stasi superior denied this. Other than that case, are there any examples of East German wifes informing on their husbands for Stasi?

Recommended PS2 dance pads for DDR?

I'd like to buy a good soft PS2 dance pad for my sister-in-law who likes to play DDR, but reviews indicate that most models break after a few months. Are there any reliable dance pads or reputable stores that sell good models with extended warranties? I would also consider metal pads under $100.

Dance games for the Macintosh?

Inspired by this question and a whim, I'm considering dance games as a possible path to improved fitness. I have a modern Macintosh, but no PC and no game consoles. Though I can't find any commercial dance games for the Mac, I have found StepMania. Based on this info, what is my best option? Should I buy a console, a dance game, and dance pad? Can somebody recommend a good Mac-compatible dance pad? Are there other inexpensive solutions? This really sounds like a fun way to exercise, but I don't know where to start.

Dance Dance Revolutions... Quietly

I'm considering trying Dance Dance Revolution as a way of tricking myself into exercising more. I have two specific questions that I am having difficulty finding answers to:

1) Can you play it in a second floor apartment without being a bad upstairs neighbor? If yes, any specific techniques or tips?

2) Assuming yes to 1, anything I should know about using a pad on top of carpet? I've seen recommendations to duct tape it down, etc., but this sounds a little extreme (not to mention ugly).
