I am moving to DC this fall to work in biglaw. The pay is high, but so are my student loans, which I would like to pay off ahead of schedule. Where should I live? Snowflakes within.

Moving just up the road in Arlington (Northern VA) but have quite a bit of stuff that I don't trust me and my friends to not mess up. So what do I look for in a professional moving company?

DCfilter: I may be moving in to the District really quickly with super short notice. Like, in a few days quickly. How do I get all my parking/car registration info sorted out so I have somewhere to park?

Can you suggest a mover for a (very) small amount of stuff? I have to move to a new apartment in the next 2 weeks, but I have very little stuff : one bedroom's worth of furniture, a sofa, and a folding table with some chairs. I only have 2 boxes of books. I called some moving companies, but the smallest load they will take is still way more than I have. I live in the Maryland suburbs of DC. Thanks.

My husband is a Marine we will be moving to the DC Area in November. He will be working near the
Washington Navy Yard, and his commute is a concern for us. We are planning on starting a family, so living in a safe neighborhood is a priority. We would like to live in a "nicer" neighborhood, preferably quiet and family-friendly. We would like to spend about $1,600/month on rent, but would be willing to spend as much as $1,850 to get what we want.

Thinkingaboutmovingfilter: We're thinking about moving to LA, right now we're in suburban DC. We've done most of the usual research, but LA just seems SO different I'm sure there's stuff we haven't even thought of. For example, I keep wondering how much of a difference things like the increased number of poisonous things will actually make to daily life. Just how different will it be and why?
