So budget has been a bit tight these days and I realized I'm losing a-lot of money into cell phone and internet bills. I have the nagging suspicion that I'm paying more than others.
Do people know any tactics to use to bring down internet and cell-phone rates?
I've tried threatening to quit before, with some success, but I think they have that on record now and it seems to work less well. [more inside]

In spring of 2014 I will be getting an iPhone 5S. I cannot figure out how to get a plan that includes tethering so I can generate wifi for my non-cellular iPad mini. What will I need to do to activate that during my order (I am switching from Verizon to AT&T) and how do I find out how much it will cost in addition to my unlimited talk/text plus XGB of data? I have already contacted customer support and they have given me the same unhelpful stuff that's on the AT&T website.

A friend is visiting from Brazil and is bringing his iphone 4s with him. He wants to use it while he's here. What's the least painful way to make that happen? [more inside]

I need a new phone! However, in looking at the available options, I am finding myself mired in analysis paralysis (not to mention a lot of "junk" websites full of keyword matches but zero useful content). Help narrowing down my selection, or even just finding a reliable source of sincere, information-dense reviews would be greatly appreciated. [more inside]

I just HUGELY went over my Verizon data allowance by streaming something LONG on my iPhone 4s. How screwed am I $$-wise? What should I know before going to the Verizon store first thing in the morning to beg for some kind of mercy? [more inside]

Is 200 MB enough? I got an Ipod Touch for my birthday. It does have WiFi access but I don't want to have to run into a cafe every time I need to look something up online. So I'm in the market for a mobile WiFi hotspot and a wireless data plan. The cheapest plans available -- and I'm all about the cheap -- typically offer you c. 200 MB a month. [more inside]

I am in the hospital using the AT&T non-smartphone unlimited data plan like it is going out of style. My only link to the outside, and I have been transferring a lot of data... a LOT of data.
Sooooo.... at what point does Ma Bell flip out, and how does this manifest?
