Starbucks Dark Barrel Latte

I'd like to try the Dark Barrel Latte that Starbucks is testing. I live in Orlando, which I know is a test area (I had a Golden Maple Latte last week, which they are selling here instead of Salted Caramel Latte). I've checked a few stores and haven't seen the Dark Barrel Latte yet. How can I find a location selling it? Is there a location finder that searches by menu? Some published list of test stores?

Lentil Soup Mystery

Many years ago I had a fabulous lentil soup in a very nice Greek restaurant (in Greece) whose owners/chefs were Cretan, and which used many ingredients from Crete (which may or may not be pertinent to my question). This soup was very, very dark, like mahogany colored, rich but not thick, and fairly "oily" (which sounds bad, but it was heavenly), and it was soooo good. Now, all lentil soup is good, really. Mine is quite marvelous, but I've been remembering this soup for so long, and have never figured out how it acquired that color, or what ingredient(s) made it so different and special. Any ideas? Similar music to the Heat soundtrack?

Asking for my husband: I just got the Heat soundtrack, and it is intense and moody. I am looking for other soundtracks, or actual albums, that fit that bill. Obviously Blade Runner, and I am imagining a lot of Friedkin films, but the mix of dark and strong is something I would like to hear more of.

Sexy-Creepy Songs

chococat calls his rendition of Fame "dirge-like"; I call it creepy-sexy-creepy. e.g. It's rather a turn on, even though it sounds just subtly too menacing or scary to be a turn-on, but that very quality is why it's a turn-on. Any other recommendations for similar songs? (The only other one I know that fits is Poe's Control.)

I never grew out of fear of the dark.

I am an adult with fear of the dark, along with other anxiety problems. I hate driving in the dark, even on streets with streetlights (I even hesitate to ride in the car at night) and feel panicky in dark rooms. I sleep with a nightlight, but wish it didn't feel like a necessity, and with fall coming, I dread the long nights ahead. Beyond therapy (which I have tried for my other problems and cannot currently afford) are there any methods of coping with this?

Literature to mediate on the scum of the earth

I have been trying to deal with the shadows, or dark reality, of life: sex-trafficking, war crimes, war rape, rape, hatred, familial abuse, child pornography; even the "lighter" shadows of infidelity, corruption (of the 3rd World and 1st World), hard drug use and dealing of financial elites, etc.; and perhaps maybe even more importantly: the lack of public-moral outrage that would seek to eradicate such an infestation (strong words, sure - I don't mean to imply I want a 21st century witch hunt). The eerie side of Patsy Cline?

MeFites, A long time ago I was playing trivia in a bar and in between rounds one night this dark, almost minimalist country song played. I'm reasonably sure it was a Patsy Cline song. It was in a minor key with a theramin or possibly backup singers (or both!?) providing eerie accompaniment to a very catchy tune. I'd heard it before so I assume it's well known, but it's not on her greatest hits. Any ideas what the title might be?

Help me find more music like Tara Nevin's version of "Stars Fell on Alabama"

I'm particularly fond of Tara Nevin's rendition of "Stars Fell on Alabama" from the (terrible) film 20 Years After. (It's the only thing that made the film worth watching). It feels like something that could be played at a funeral march in the deep south. How would you categorize this particular piece of music? Dark bluegrass? Help me find more music in this dark and moody style. Slow, fiddle driven is a plus. Somber and dirge-like (musical rather than lyrical), double plus.

Recommend dark, provocative manga to me!

MangaFilter: So, I recently watched Gantz, the live action movie, and it was so delightful, it inspired me to read the manga, and now I am addicted to it. A couple years back, I also enjoyed the DeathNote movies, as well as Oldboy. I seem to be attracted to a kind of manga that is quite grounded in reality, that trespasses into the fantastic, and goes to very dark places, and likes to play with ideas. Please, can you recommend other manga of the type I like? Thanks.

Name that 20th century European artist

I'm trying to think of the name of a male, Eastern-European artist that made paintings of dark, unsettling landscapes. I remember being linked to a very basic webpage of his work, and I wish I could remember more details about his work. As for time period, maybe 20's-70's. Again, sorry for the lack of details. I want to say he was not well-known and did the landscapes in the 40's or 50's.
