How do I get started with cyclocross? I've been a spectator at a cyclocross race and I'm looking at picking up a low-end cyclocross bike, but what's the best way to get started doing it? How do you practice the odd obstacles and challenges found in courses? [more inside]

I just got back from a 2-day, 150 (241.4 km) mile bike tour, and I'm feeling pretty good about myself (albeit a little sore, all over). To improve myself long term, so that I'm ready for the Hotter'N Hell Hundred
for next year, what should I do? [more inside]

We're in the process of moving to Seattle (I'm here, the fam is still back east) so I'm solo this Labor Day weekend (sadly, no invites) and am looking to get on my road bike *outside* the city trails and enjoy some of the surrounding Washington landscape. I'm looking for 30-50mi ride suggestions (can be longer if not so hilly) that have the fewest cars and the nicest views (mountains, farms, rivers, etc) without Tour de France climbs. [more inside]

Tour de France: what was the deal with the guys hanging on the support vehicles while interacting with them? I mean, I can see the advantages and by and large these vehicles were at the back of the pack, but it seems like you'd be getting -some- advantage...

How do I find/buy/examine a used roadbike? I don't want to win the Tour De France, I just want to cycle around the lake near our house 2-3 times a week (which I can access crossing just one major street which has a stoplight). Approx. 12 miles or so... [more inside]

Can you recommend me a reasonably bicycle-friendly route into Charlottesville, VA coming from the west (from Lexington, to be precise)? I don't mind sharing a road with traffic - I ride Route 11 frequently and happily - but as much as possible, I would like to avoid getting mixed in with dense commercial traffic.

I'm training for an ultramarathon in the summer and I'm trying to get my weekly mileage totals up. However, there might be several times a week when I'll be mountain biking circa 80 km/50 miles in a day. My question is: if I was to try and convert these cycling miles into running miles, how many running miles would 50 cycling miles be worth? What would the conversion ratio be like? [more inside]

I've seen the well-balanced cycling board, BikeForums.net, and want to know if are there others that also deal with road bikes, fixies, etc. besides the usual mountain bike chatter. What are they? How about the best deals on cycling gear too?

We're headed to Breckenridge later this week and not sure if i want to pack the mountain bikes. Any locals or others with experience have any two cents to add? If it's no problem, suggest any trails that aren't too technical or too much climbing as we're just two currently-mostly-out-of-shape flat-landers here.
Or would it be better to pack the road bike? Decisions.....

I just returned from my second trip to Stockholm and have fallen in love (all over again) with Kronan
bicycles. I don't ride my tricked out hybrid as much as I'd like - it's just too much bike - so I need to change. My plan is to sell the hybrid and buy a Kronan.
But it doesn't look like they're available in the US anymore. The shop that used to sell them here in Chicago hasn't carried them for the last two years. Where can a guy find a Kronan?

Live scores in the left hand side and popups when there are goal's or a yellow/red card.. Anyone know of anything like this for (what's left of....) The Tour?

Recommend a good cycling shoe-pedal combo
I just started biking again and i'm really loving it. I have a mid-range hybrid bike, nothing fancy and I don't ride compeditively but more for fun and exercise, all on paved road.
I'm looking to buy cycling shoes and pedals. What i'm looking for in a pedal is one that can serve both a bike shoe and a regular shoe. The guy at the bike shop showed me something that was a hybrid by shimano but i dont remember the model. As far as a shoe, I dont need anything fancy or expensive but not crappy and cheaply made either.
Can anyone give me some recomendations? Also, is there a reliable bike gear review site that has user reviews?
