Nutrition questions for a fitness newbie

So I started working out for real this year as part of my New Year's Resolution. I'm currently doing a version of crossfit, mixed with occasional rock climbing, and I'm seeing good results (Stats below). The problem is that most dieting and training advice I can find for guys is geared towards those who are starting out skinny. I started out overweight and out of shape. I'm currently at what would be a good weight if my BF was lower. What are some good diet resources for someone in my situation? (I like my training regimen and I'm not looking for a new one) [more inside]

Small, HIGH QUALITY, general-purpose pruner?

I'd like to buy a small (~6 inch), HIGH QUALITY pruner. It needs to stay LOCKED so that I can carry it around. I've been looking at Felco pruners, but they seem to be tailored for heavy-duty pruning and are pretty large to carry around all the time as a general purpose tool. Leatherman's Micra looks nice (I've been needing to get a multitool too...) but I'm looking for a dedicated pruner.

How to help teen with alcoholic parent

A family friend who is divorced has been an alcoholic for more then several years. She has primary custody of a teenage daughter. We have kept in touch with the alcoholic mom but sporadically due to her behavior. Recently I found out the the daughter was cutting and acting out, I believe due to the stress of living with her mom. Because of this I started texting the daughter just to check in and give her some positive messages (mostly like “hope you have a good day” and “I’m so impressed how you did on that test”). I did ask her if she’d like to go to an alateen meeting which she agreed to but only if I went with her. However we haven’t set a date. [more inside]

Looking for pc action-adventure game from the 90's

-PC action-adventure game, mostly action, but I do remember simple adventure things like moving blocks or unlocking doors -first person view -can't remember how health stats and weaponry were viewed -Had to rescue a woman (go figure), but not sure if she was royalty or anything, just motivation to do the journey -Started in kobold (or kobolt) caverns, there was a spider cavern section where it was tunnels burrowed by the spiders themselves, a lava cavern/mining level where you had to break down a rock borer (might have been a laser) -mid to late 90's probably because it's graphics were close to Quake 2, just not as smooth [more inside]

How to watch the 2012 Olympics after cutting the cable

I'm paying too much for cable TV that I don't watch, and I am fortunate to have good broadband internet (both from Comcast in the US). There are only a few events my family and I care enough about seeing immediately on TV. The Tour de France and major league baseball are both usually available via internet subscription services. This seems like it should be more straightforward.

I've got a PDF (a magazine). I'm trying export some pages from this PDF (my article), as a separate PDF. I'm on a Mac (10.6.7). This seems like it should be easy, but I can't print my selected pages to PDF (it's grayed out in the "Save to PDF" drop-down), nor can I find any options to save-selected-pages-as or export-to. My searches have only turned up now-obsolete, non-functioning programs like PDFlab and PDFsam. What am I missing? Should I just print out the pages and scan them back in?

How should I approach my teen's possible cutting behavior?

Today while walking with my 13 year old daughter, I slipped my hand under her arm just to give her a little squeeze, and I discovered about a dozen thin superficial cuts on the inside of her left forearm, just below the elbow. I think I handled it wrong and I’m hoping someone has first hand experience to share with me. [more inside]

Nevermind, I don't want to be famous.

I'm an artist who has had the incredible luck to have some work released to a large worldwide audience, and have been excited and pleased to get a large influx of new fans adding me on myspace, and emailing me.
