Need Non-Cheesy Professional Website Template

Seeking a high-end corporate website template (do those exist?) that is designed for extensive customization. I'm a media consultant working on an extended marketing/rebranding campaign with a mid-size company, and we're in the process of (among other things) developing a new website. I am reasonably proficient in HTML and CSS, but I'd like to have a basic website to use as a jumping off point while I work on designing some of the visual elements and then customize the layout, etc with CSS.

Most of the website templates I've seen are $20-$100 cheesy templates, and I see those same templates appear over and over again on the dozens of template seller sites out there. On the other end of the spectrum is full website creation and customization (usually costing several thousand dollars or more). Surely there is something in between - a small company or individual that designs less commercialized templates? Anyone have any experience or recommendations?

Best electric guitar repair and modification/maintenance in Los Angeles, preferably close to Downtown or Glendale? I moved to LA from Orange County and I'm looking for the best person or shop to have work on electric guitars. Specifically, maintenance and custom modifications (pickups, electronics, etc) on Fenders and Gibsons. I'm Downtown during the week, and near Glendale the rest of the time, so the West Side would be tricky, but anything from Hollywood to Pasadena to the Valley would work, I think.

And if you know of someone who is both good and turns work around in a reasonable amount of time, that would be even better. Thanks!

how to customize web browser context menu keyboard shortcuts

How to change the keyboard shortcuts in the IE or Firefox context menus? Like many people, I use Firefox at home but am forced to use Internet Explorer at work. For the most part the two amicably co-exist in my universe. The one consistent annoyance, however, is this:

When you right click on a link in IE, the keyboard shortcut to open the link in a new tab is "w".

When you right click on a link in Firefox, the shortcut is "t".

I'm the sort who likes to open links in new tabs all in one go so that they load in the background, and then read them leisurely. How can I change the shortcut in either IE or Firefox so that they're the same in both?

My google-fu is failing me -- all the links I come across are for adding NEW context menu items, not for changing the keyboard shortcut on existing ones.

Where can a Canadian buy an inexpensive knife roll for a young chef that is suitable for being silk screened? My partner and I would like to buy a knife roll for my nephew. He already works in a kitchen, and is thinking of going to cooking school. We thought a knife roll would be a great, and encouraging, gift for Christmas. We've seen a few at a restaurant supply store, but we thought we might find a better deal on the Internet. The only real catch is we'd especially like it if it would be possible to get a small picture (or some other personal touch) put on it at a silk screening shop.

We don't have a lot of money to spend on the gift--maybe $40-$50 CDN--and were hoping the hive could help us out.

Change searching in windows in Firefox

How can I change the behavior of searching in windows in Firefox? The Firefox search-in-browser bar is, and has always has been, awful. [I posted this to the Firefox forums and got no response.]

I am not referring to searches done using URL shortcuts nor am I referring to searches done using search box in the upper right corner of the browser window.

The search-in-browser bar is what I am calling the bar that appears at the bottom of the browser window when you search for content inside of the page that is currently loaded by hitting ctrl-F on Windows or command-F on Mac. I use Firefox 3.0 for both platforms.

The search-in-browser bar is broken (or, if you prefer, intentionally coded in such a way that it behaves in a broken fashion) in that it:

a. Continues to appear on the screen even long after it has last been used.

b. Continues to appear on the screen when a link is clicked and a new page is loaded.

c. "Match case" seems to be arbitrarily selected in between searches.

d. Takes up an inordinate amount of screen real estate, especially in a browser window that fills the monitor. This is particularly problematic on a laptop with a small screen.

What I would like to find is a way to change this behavior. I have looked for things to change in about:config and for an appropriate extension but found no joy.

What I'd like to have happen in Firefox:

1. The search-in-browser bar should disappear in user-settable amount of time after it has last been used, either X amount of time after the last search is made or after the last time a related search key command is entered. I know that you can sometimes hit escape to get the search-in-browser bar to disappear, but that doesn't always work either--it sometimes stupidly requires that you click back into the search field and *then* hit escape--not even rehitting ctrl-F/command-F and then hitting escape works.

2. The search-in-browser bar should disappear when a link is clicked and a new page is loaded.

3. "Match case" should never be selected by default or at the start of a search; or, it should be a user preference as to whether it is a default or not.

4. Ideally, the search-in-browser bar should be able to be turned off. It should return to being a pop-up window as it was on previous versions of Firefox, or it should be a user preference as to whether it should be attached to the window or should be a free-standing pop-up window.

I'm running Firefox 3 RC1 on Windows Vista. How can I use userchrome.css to hide the "list all tabs" button until Tab Mix Plus is updated? The Firefox 2 userchrome tricks documented at Lifehacker and elsewhere don't work because the element names have changed from Firefox 2 to Firefox 3. The transition has been surprisingly easy for me because I've been able to tweak everything to my liking - except this. Thanks, hivemind!

Expression Engine and Custom Next Entry tags?

How can I display more than the entry title in Expression Engine's {next_entry} and {prev_entry} tags? Finally starting to make headway on my long delayed site work, using Expression Engine. For more details, you can check my old questions...

I'm trying to customize the {next_entry} tag to display more than just the next entry's title. I'd like to have the entry's date in as well. Sadly, I can't figure out how to do it. The only tag that works is {title}.

Help?

Where to get a jersey customized?

Where can I get a hockey jersey customized in the Madison, WI area? I recently received a very nice authentic hockey jersey as a gift and I would like to get it customized with my name and number. The jersey is the 2007 Wisconsin Badgers Men's alternate jersey (http://www.buckyslockerroom.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=5002136).

I'm a huge Badgers hockey fan and I see fans with customized jerseys all the time at the Kohl, but I haven't bothered to ask anyone where they got theirs customized. Any ideas where I can take a brand new jersey to get a nameplate and numbers sewn on in the Madison area? I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

How do you make a new (used) car feel like it's your own?

Just got a new (used) car! Looking for suggestions on ways to "make it my own." What's the first thing you do to a new car? This ('97 Mitsubishi Montero in great condition) is the first car I've owned myself (all prior autos have been shared with siblings). I've already started to fall in love with it, but somehow it still doesn't really feel like it's mine. I want to make it my own, give it some personality, that sort of thing. I'm not looking to "pimp my ride" or anything, just looking for little things I can do now to make me enjoy my car more for the rest of its life.

I'm already taking it in to have the seats re-upholstered, and also I've given it a name. The Hovertank!

Yes, I know, it's a stupid name.

Anyway, how do you officially "christen" a new automobile? I'm looking for anything, from purely psychological suggestions (I've already named it, and decided it's MALE), to purely decorative suggestions, to more practical ideas (any cheap ideas on how to improve an older factory stereo, for example?) All suggestions welcome.

Doll customization-filter: Where to find "Mr. Clear sealer" in the US or Europe? So a friend of mine in Ireland is wanting to do some doll customization. She emailed me asking if I knew of any place to find "Mr. Clear" sealer here in the States, as she couldn't get it over there. What are your must have ObjectBar themes? I ama registered user of ObjectBar. I like it, but I cannot find a theme that seems useful for more than a few days. The built-in Mac-PC one is pretty cool, but I am sure there has to be more out there that I am not seeing.

I have checked out WinCustomize and Deviant art, but what I am really looking for is suggestions for themes that you love/just can't stop using/find real benefit to.

I've a mediawiki wiki set up locally and I'd like to have the wiki pages display a custom header/footer--basically I'd like to include it into a pre-existing template. I'm not finding too much information on the meta site, and am actually looking for a good site or article(s) penned for mediawiki customizor novices in mind that would pretty much push me in a good direction to go. Also, can anyone point me to any mediawiki-enabled Web sites that are highly customized layout? Every mediawiki site I've come across looks pretty much the same layout with the only real diffence being in colors.

painting a laptop

I just got a laptop computer. It's ugly. Can I paint it? The part I want to paint, the back of the display, is slightly textured black plastic. I would be very, very careful to tape off the edges and keep the paint away from any other parts of the computer. Will this cause any problems? What kind of paint should I use?

Konfabulator Fuss?

The sites that I frequent have been abuzz with the news that Konfabulator has been purchased by Yahoo. Having since downloaded Konfabulator, I must ask: What's the big deal? Seriously, I don't get it. I install it on my XP box, and it puts things on my screen when I hit F8 (and blocks everything else out).

I've used Litestep, Windowblinds, Y'z Dock, theme dll hacks, and so on -- but this program, I don't get. What am I missing?

How to roll back IE by X to just IE

In setting up access to my cable internet the cable company's set-up CD installed Internet Explorer by "so-and-so." I hate this. I know (assume, I guess) it was created with Microsoft's Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK). I also know you can't really uninstall IE, but is it possible to uninstall these IEAK customizations? A free "IE-cleaner" download or step by step clean-up instructions would be great!

Customizing Windows folders

Two questions about folder customizations in Windows [more inside] I can't seem to get my folders to stay re-sized. Many (but not all) folders reset to what seems to be a default size. I have tried control-[click on X], I have tried using TweakUI to increase the number of "folders to remember", I have tried Tools > Folder Options > View > Apply to All Folders, but nothing seems to work.

Also, sometimes the icons in folders "refresh", and then a nearby (in terms of path) folder will display its contents in Icon or Tile mode instead of List like I like it.

I realize these are small problems, but they can be very annoying, especially when you have a small screen. I use Windows XP, but this happens in 2000 also. Any help?
