Waitress etiquette: I work at a diner that's only open one day a week (at an auction arena). We're a close-knit group (employees and customers). We have a "special" every week, a dinner that includes a dessert. Sometimes a particular customer will say "I don't want the dessert" and sometimes he/she won't... [more inside]

Any tricks or methods for dealing with post-bad customer stress? I work in customer service (at a library, so they're patrons actually) and find that one bad encounter can ruin my whole shift. [more inside]

We currently use a very broken system that is barely chugging along. Its server based. Due to our business, we would like to find a web-based system that does all the usual stuff- vendors, customers, inventory, shipping, receiving, etc. It doesn't need accounting as we do that separately. Ideally it would allow us to hook a shopping cart software into it later so that orders placed by our seales people or via the online store would dump into the same order bucket for processing. I am not looking for an ecommerce shopping cart. I am looking for a sales order system.

Need to find price lists for computer services or tasks. This is proving tough to find via Google. More specifically, I am NOT looking for prices for products, such as software or hardware products, e.g., Windows XP or a Mac computer (for which I can find millions of price lists). Computer services would comprise, for example, help desk, software programming of any kind, network configuring, network administering, database tweaking, etc. [more inside]

Is there a good piece of software (either for WindowsXP, or web based) specifically used for tracking customers, invoices, and jobs for someone doing freelance computer tech support? [more inside]

I have to set up a relatively simple photo sales site for a friend (as the only halfway tech person she knows). It doesn't need much - a basic basket/lightbox, accounts for customers and some relatively automated way for her to upload. Is there anything fairly off-the-shelf that will do this, or do I need to hack about with things like the opensource ecommerce project? Anyone know of good packages?
