I want to fill an old i-pod mini with pop music for a 5 year old girl. What kind of music do kids this age like? If the answer is Justin Bieber I'm okay with that.

We live in a remix culture. What does that mean for us? I'm interested in how electronic music has changed society's relationship to music, from both a musical performance and writing standpoint, and a cultural standpoint.

This
video of 'Departure' by Crystal Stilts seems to be comprised completely of documentary footage from the May '68 student uprising in Paris. However, there are a few shots in the video that are almost too 'perfect', specifically shots 4, 5 and 7, and I am wondering if they are in fact taken from a movie made at the time. If so, what film would that be? For some inexplicable reason I really need to know this.

This question has certainly been asked before but I am looking for great rock music from different countries, the place matters not (except US and Canada). What I really want though is more musical exposure of bands who I can then listen to and research outward from them. In other words, I am not looking for exhaustive lists of bands, rather, geographic diversity. The more different countries, the better.

I'd like to sing some good Irish songs with a bunch of kids (I play the guitar) to have them learn something about Irish culture. Could you point at some meaningful, beautiful, traditional Irish songs ? (Tabs, melody, lyrics and background resources welcomed).

I am looking for songs that have brought people together, inspired them to persevere, made them desire to act or hope for a brighter future during any point in history. I am particularly interested in popular songs, songs from the African American community (including rap), work songs or religious songs that had these effects on people. However, I am interested in anything that you can come up with.

Can anyone with good academic-library-fu point me toward an article that argues for cultural differences between how certain keys or chords are interpreted affectively? Specifically, I'm looking for a source for the claim that perceiving minor chords as sad is specifically a Western thing, and that non-Westerners don't perceive minor chords as sad and/or they perceive other types of chords as sad (or whatever).
