I have Firefox 3 color options set so that visited links turn a dark Grey when clicked, every site seems to work with this but the sender and subject lines in Gmail.. What's strange is the links on the left hand side of the Gmail page (Inbox, starred, sent mail, drafts, etc ) go dark when clicked on. Does anyone know if Google uses some special CSS or something on the right hand side, can this be overridden so the visited links will turn the Grey I have checked?

What should I put in a custom browser stylesheet to override and Aquify all web form element styles (buttons, text fields, etc.) in Safari 3.0.4? I'd like to undo custom properties like colors, fonts, and borders, and make all form elements display natively, using Aqua, like Safari used to do in previous versions. I'm essentially looking for the opposite answer to this question, using a custom userContent.css-esque stylesheet. (Thanks for your help.)

With Javascript, CSS or anything else, can I make different categories of link text on the same web page behave differently? Specifically, if I wanted to make a page listing some links I need to visit daily, some I need to visit weekly and some I need to visit monthly -- could I make each category of link text change from "visited" color back to "unvisited" color after the appropriate number of days? Or if this can't be done, how would you solve this need (in a visual way, rather than just "keep a list manually of when you visit each")?

I run a website and am having a little difficulty getting the CSS to work properly in Internet Explorer. I am trying to implement the search field into a little 'pop-up' in the navigation. It works properly in FireFox and Safari, but in IE for Windows the pop-up shifts diagonally instead of directly below. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Why does IE hate my website? I've got it looking decent in Safari and Firefox, but it looks hideous in Explorer. Having done a fair amount of Googling, I've come to the conclusion that it's probably related to one of Explorer's notorious CSS rendering bugs, but my self-taught CSS and HTML is not enough to enable me to pinpoint and solve the problem. CSS with dynamic content. I'm trying to create a web page using CSS and text pulled from a database, so that it looks like this: http://www.blogfucker.com/junk/css_help.gif. "Image 2" is simply floated left. Very simple to do with static content. But this is for a client who will only be able to edit the text, which will be entered as a single block of text. How do I throw a floated image in there so it shows up roughly in the middle of the page? I've considered writing a script to count the number of paragraphs (or even characters) and dividing by two, and throwing it in that way. But I feel there must be a simpler way.

CSSFilter: I'm a long-time Web wonk looking to become a CSS maven - my next gig is the development and implementation of a completely modern, table-less design for a fairly big company.

What learning resources out there (on the Web, in print, or otherwise) are the best for someone looking to master the techniques espoused by places like the CSS Zen Garden? What new tools should I consider using? One thing I'm having trouble with in particular: how does the designer mock up a fully CSS/XHTML design? It seems more counterintuitive than the old process of design -> cut-up into table-based layout.

How do you ensure consistent yet accesible font sizes across platforms using CSS?
I have a site where I set the SIZE attribute of the BODY tag to 80%, and then set all the other font sizes using ems, which in theory should give me consistent fonts while allowing people to change the font size (which is why I don't just use pixels for the whole thing).
Unfortunately, in IE 5, this results in way too large fonts.
What's your method?
