Prompted by the success of a previous post, I have another special effects question. Is there a term of art for the stuff like extra model kit parts and other doodads glued to a model to give it a sense of scale and complexity? [more inside]

Came across a Microsoft eHome infrared transceiver (USB) in a pile of cruft my mother-in-law picked up at a garage sale. No accessories, just the transceiver. It works, but what can I do with it? (Or is it junk?) [more inside]
