Where to find sturdy wood crates

Where can I find sturdy wooden crates? Like fruit crates? I know they have ones at Michaels and JoAnn fabrics, but they are little flimsy, more for crafts. Where can I find a reliable source of decently sturdy wooden crates? [more inside]

Crates vs. baby gates.

After doing tons of breed research and visiting shelters and rescues, I have finally found the write dog for me. I purchased a miniature dachshund from a reputable breeder in my hometown. She is only three weeks old right now, so I have five weeks to prepare for her arrival in my home. I do have a few questions that I hope Mefites can help me with. [more inside]

That's crate

I currently store bedroom things in one of these. I'd prefer something like one of these. Where can I find some attractive storage crates to make what is on show by necessity look nicer? [more inside]

Stop pooping the second I'm not watching you!

Last week I rescued a 7week old lab (mix) puppy from the pound before she was put down. She's a sweet girl, but I can't seem to get her house trained. We've got a soft crate, we feed her on a regular schedule, I take her out every two hours. ...more if she looks like she's sniffing around. Just a few minutes ago, I took her out, she tinkled, we came back in. I took my eyes off her long enough to get something out of the freezer, and she peed and pooped on my Xmas tree rug. Do you have experience using a crate for a puppy? What did you feel the pros/cons were?

Do you have experience using a crate for a puppy? What did you feel the pros/cons were? Anything in particular we should know if we get one?

Possibly pertinent details: We are hoping to get a puppy next week. We're getting it from a pound/adoption agency (Humane Society or similar), and it will probably be a male, medium-sized mutt of some sort. This will be the only dog in the household (at least for a while). We both work away from the house, but one of us generally spends a few hours at home in the middle of the day. We've had dogs before but have never used a crate.
