Is there somewhere on the web that offers analyses of the best time to look for an apartment in an area (specifically, Berkeley/Northern Oakland)? Or, alternately, is Craig's List conveniently archived somewhere? [more inside]

Right now, what are some good places -- in addition to ebay & Craigslist -- to sell used tech gear (such as old PowerBooks and any other excellent-condition but old stuff)?

I live right between two locations on Craigslist. Posting an ad to one region means it won't show up on the other, though they are both equally distant and I want people from both areas to see.
I want to cross post, but there's a warning that the posting might be flagged/removed. Should I worry about this, or go ahead anyway? This isn't spam, and it's also my first time posting on the site.

Is craigslist now the only place to search for apartments in urban areas of the U.S.? What does this mean for the significant share of the population that is not computer literate? [more inside]

I posted a hookup ad on Craigslist and got 200+ genuine, funny and long responses (along with 40 or 50 immediate deletions). What's the norm here for responses? Do I respond and say "no thanks", something more or just leave dead silence? Which would you prefer? [more inside]

If you search for sofas or sofa sets on Seattle's Craigslist, you see a lot of new sofas--many leather--being sold "out of the box," "original packaging," etc. for well below retail. Though the sellers are different, often the pictures are similar, like a scan out of a brochure. Anyone have any experience with this, or know what the deal is?

How can I awaken Craiglist Calgary? I’ve been using Craigslist Vancouver for barters and job listings while I’ve been here, but now I’m off to Calgary, Alberta. The ’list moves slooow out there – too slow to be practical at all. Any ideas how to rally more users to the site? [more inside]

Craigslist has yet to visit my community, and from what I can tell there's a real dearth of comprehensive entertainment/events listings. There are two local colleges, a very small local music scene, and the usual array of chain restaurants and movie theaters, plus some community events. There are some listings in a freebie paper entertainment guide.
Anyway, I want to make a site that aggregates all of this information and is searchable by category or key word. Is there a pre-existing content management system that might work well for this? [more inside]

Anybody have a clue what's going on at BovineUnite.com
? Billboards started showing up here in the Baltimore area a week or so ago. The site is registered locally, but the execution of the site seems too good to be just some local prank. So far, the only Google reference to the site is a Craigslist ad
looking for people to travel around Maryland wearing the cowsuit. What are they advertising? Skim milk? Chick-Fil-A?

London Mefi folks, a question: I've recently moved to London, and am searching for the equivalent of craigslist to buy some simple household items (like a Hoover). The London site of Craigslist seems a little weak. Any recommendations?

I'm looking for an anecdote I read around the time of Fahrenheit 9/11's release. It was about a young woman who is confronted in the queue for F9/11 after she lights up her cigarette. I believe it was from a Livejournal, and I think
I saw it somewhere on MeFi, but damned if I can find it. [caveated inside] [more inside]

There've been lots of threads about internet dating, but my question is: the internet hook-up. It's something I've been considering recently (I ended a long-term relationship a few months ago and don't think I'd be able to sustain another one right now), but I'm completely inexperienced with it and would like to hear some "testimonials," as it were, before deciding one way or another (and no, I don't mean in a Dear Penthouse way). I'm a young gay guy in NYC who's been considering Craigslist, if that helps to focus your response, but I'd like to hear from people across the spectrum... what are the best and worst scenarios you know of or have been involved in? (And yeah, I know the basic safety tips -- somebody else should know where you're going, etc.) Does it generally work out, or is it more trouble than it's worth?
