CL posting help - apartment post only shows up under specific searches

I'm trying to rent an apartment on Craigslist. The issue is that after my post has been successfully put up, it only appears when searching criteria fit the details of my post. What I mean: It's a 3 bedroom, so if someone searches in my area for 3BR, the ad will appear. However, if someone just goes into the general "all apartments" section the ad does not appear. What gives? Looking through the application section again, I don't see how I could have done things differently. Am I missing a radio button to do this? Should I classify it as 0-3 BR in the ad setup? Does CL charge for different add access?

Down to the wire

I'm looking for an Oct. 1st roommate share in Brooklyn, and so far I'm coming across shockingly few places listed on Craigslist. Is there another list I'm not aware of? I already put word out to my network. Details: -- I've lived in BK for six years (Crown Heights + Park Slope), and have never had trouble finding a place before. --Budget is $1100 and under. --Looking to stay for 6 months or longer --I'm searching under "rooms & shares" AND "sublets & temporary" Thanks!!

How do I make sure not to get scammed on a Craigslist sublet?

I'm traveling over the summer (for a month) and found a short-term sublet on Craigslist that seems perfect. The current tenant (who is renting her 1br in a 2br apt) has agreed to let me stay and has asked me to transfer a deposit to her bank account. It is an actual bank (rather than Western Union or something of that sort), but I don't know enough - nor have I been able to find enough by searching online - to find out if this is "safe." How best to use Airbnb as a host?

I finally got my act together and put my Brooklyn apartment up on Airbnb this morning. I'm a little surprised to be already receiving inquiries, and I realize now I really don't know how to vet these potential renters. For those who have hosted through the site before, what criteria do you use? Is no photo a red flag or is that normal? Is it suspicious or ordinary for them not to have much of a profile filled out? Are there specific questions I should be asking in my initial reply? (Will it make them suspicious if I ask for identifying information?) Are there scams to watch out for? Is there anything you'd add to a listing to head off potential trouble? [more inside]

Why is nobody replying to my sublet emails?

I am trying to find a summer sublet in Portland on Craigslist. I have sent out a handful of responses to ads, but so far, I haven't gotten any responses--not even a "sorry, it's been filled" or a "sorry, you're not what we are looking for". Is this standard when looking for sublets in a major city, or should I be rethinking the wording of my contact email? [more inside]

10 days until rent is due!

I have been very happily living in a 3BR apt in Seattle (lower queen anne) with a couple for almost 2 years, and today they're moving out to a house together. In 10 days rent is due. I have posted on craigslist for new roommates to move in. I've asked a few friends to help me screen people, but I'm still freaking out because I'm extremely nervous about choosing new roommates! I really like being close friends with my roommates, so this feels like dating. I'd love any advice & experiences you could share! [more inside]

Why can so many people get away with overposting on craigslist?

Apartment hunting in NYC is a major pain for almost everyone. But lately it seems that craigslist overposters are winning the battle of keeping their listings on top, and posting the same property an obscene amount of times each day. If your looking for a particular neighborhood and price range, you will click and see the same aprartment over and over, sometimes for weeks at a time. They must be getting flagged. I flag people when it is obvious. Why are they not banned? I guess the question is, what can I do? Is flagging really helping, or is it just a placebo? [more inside]
