Where can I buy this kind of silk fabric?

I am interested in purchasing patterned silk fabric, like the kind you see used in J Crew's kid's neck ties. Usually some kind of repeated pattern over a solid colored background. Kind of preppy looking. Does anyone know where you can get fabric like that? Is there some sort of secret underground network of suppliers in Italy or something? Thanks in advance!

Best simple way to affix light dots to a black t-shirt?

My son's school has a "100th day of school" t-shirt project coming up, requiring 100 of something to be on the shirt. He's a kindergartener with fine-motor issues who suggests a Pac-Man theme. I'd like him to decorate the shirt himself or at least part of it. So, how should he get 100 colored dots in various pastel colors on a black or navy t-shirt? Ideally the dot-making wouldn't require a lot of grip strength or precision. (We adults will help with the Pac-Man, ghosts, and maze lines as needed.) Bonus points for washability, but that's not essential.

Social networking for fabric geeks?

I'm looking for a project management/social networking site for fabric craftspeople, artisans and hobbyists (can include sewing, weaving, whatever) on the MyFolia model. In other words someplace on line where I can organize my projects and connect with other craftspeople. The forums just aren't working for me-- too much chat, not enough organizing.

Help me make a belt

Wanted: tips or detailed instructions for making a belt (clothing) out of fabric, iron-on "waist maker" tape, needle, thread, "belting" strap material, and (probably) some hooks. I'm not 100% sure how to fold/sew the fabric around the tape, especially the ends. No luck with Google, and the package instructions are sparse. [more inside]
